Chapter 1375

Facial recognition was required to access the president' s elevator. Since Hendrix was not around, Ihad no choice but to access the staff elevator. Those gossiping ladies came over too. When theysaw me, they finally stopped talking!

"Mrs. Roberts!" I was stunned to find somebody greeting me. I turned around. It was Estella. Ismiled in return.

As the staff elevator door opened, I squeezed past the other employees into the elevator. Sincethey knew who I was, they stopped gossiping about Hendrix and me. Instead, they began chattingwith Estella.

It was easy to tell that everybody liked Estella. She was pretty and friendly after all.

I got out of the elevator when it reached the floor for Hendrix's office. Then, I was dumbfounded tofind that his office could only be accessed via fingerprint recognition.

Hence, I had no choice but to call Hendrix. As soon as I grabbed my phone, the glass sensor dooropened. It was Estella.

She looked at the door before directing her gaze at me and said, "Have you been busy, Mrs.

Roberts? Why haven't you been visiting Mr. Roberts lately?"

I glanced at the documents in her arms. Those had to be reviewed by Hendrix. “Yeah, I have a lot ofmatters to attend to," I said.

She flashed a gentle smile. Not speaking further, she then made her way to the office while carryingthe documents. I tagged along. Strangely, it felt as if I had been granted access to the office byher...

Hendrix was sitting at his desk, reviewing the documents. Estella stood beside him, quietly waitingfor him to sign them. After vetting the stack of documents, Hendrix raised his hand. Estella thenpassed him a pen she had prepared. Both of them did not say a single word. While working, theyhad a great tacit understanding of one another.

I stood still beside the door, staring blankly at them. I felt they had such great chemistry.

Three minutes later, Hendrix raised his head and gazed at me. "Aren't you tired of standing?" hesaid while raising his eyebrow.

I said smilingly, "Isn’t Miss Zanes standing too? I guess I shouldn't be sitting then."

He seemed to get the hint. He frowned. Then, he looked at Estella and said, "You may leave now.I'll get someone to send these documents to you

once I’m done."novelbin

Estella looked at me. After that, she nodded and said, "Okay!"

She then smiled and hade me goodbye.

It was so quiet the minute Estella left. It was close to pin-drop silence.

After a while, Hendrix said, "Prolonged standing is bad for you."

I raised my eyebrow as I leaned against the door. "No worries, Mr. Roberts," I said. "I've alwaysbeen in a good state of health. A few minutes of standing won’t hurt me. You're as busy as a bee. Ican't just barge in to your room."

He frowned. Then, he stood up and looked at me. "Arianna, do you have to talk weirdly like this?"

I laughed. "Am I being weird? It seems that you don’t even feel fancy talking to me now. Okay then,Mr. Roberts. Carry on with your work. I won't disturb you then."

After that, I turned around and left.

Hendrix was not someone who held a grudge for long. He quickly came over to stop me. Lookingme in the eyes, he uttered, "Come on, you know that’s not what I meant."

I smiled. I didn't look the slightest bit annoyed. "No worries, carry on with your work."

He grabbed hold of my wrist and said, "Let's clear the air. I took offense because you met Sebastiandespite knowing what sort of person he is. I was mad because I had been worrying about you. Whycan't you understand?"
