Chapter 1321

I couldn't breathe a single word for a long time. I hung up the phone and glanced at Hendrix, feelinga little out of control. "When Anne were sent to the factory by Josiah for a period of time, was she..."novelbin

I couldn't believe it. Hendrix drove the car and was silent for a moment. Then he replied, "Theresults of my investigation were that Anne was sent to the chemical plant by him, but later I foundthat Anne was by Chloe's side. At that time, I thought my information was wrong. Now it seems thathe transferred Anne because of the explosion at the factory."

"Anne was his child. Why did he do this?" My tears leaked out. "He clearly knows that it wasdangerous there. Why did he still do this?"

Hendrix pursed his lips. "Maybe he didn't know, otherwise, he wouldn't have handed Anne over toChloe."

"But even if he didn't do it on purpose, shouldn't he have asked us to take Anne to do the check upafterwards? He actually didn't mention anything like this. If he had told us earlier, and we discoveredit earlier, it would be better for Anne!"

I was a little upset, and Hendrix was also not in a good mood. After a moment of silence, he spoke,"Let's not be in a hurry first. Let Anne go to the hospital for the examination first, and see theresults. Maybe it's just because of the weather."

I can only comfort myself like this.

When the car drove to the entrance of the hospital, Freya hugged Oliver, who was crying, andlooked at me apologetically. "Arianna, there's no other way. Oliver has been crying all this while. Idon't think he's used to the hospital's environment. I'll bring him back first. Zachary went to school, and won't be able to come back for a while. Pedro and his wife are both in the hospital. Anne is stillhaving her examination. Don't worry, everything will be fine!"

I nodded and asked her to take the child home as soon as possible. It was too cold here, and it wasreally uncomfortable for a child to be here.

She left with the child. Hendrix and I went to the hospital. Anne was being pushed into theexamination room for check up. Both Valerie and Pedro had followed Anne all over the hospital.

Anne was sent into the examination room. Valerie looked at me with red eyes and sobbed, "Ithought Anne's previous fevers were because of the change in seasons. Last night, she had a fever.I also thought that she just needed to take some medicine. But I didn't expect that when I went towake her for school this morning, she would bleed so much and cough up blood. I was too careless.I should have taken her to the hospital!"

I shook my head slightly and comforted her. "Mom, don't worry. Maybe it's just dehydration from thedry weather. It's okay. Her immune system has always been weak. Maybe it's just some minorproblems. Don’t be worried!"

For a moment, I didn't know how to tell her about Hanlusia City. Anne had been with them for solong. Although she was not their own, they doted on Anne and treated her as their owngranddaughter.

Pedro was getting old already. Having run after the doctor for a while, he sat on a chair, pantingslightly. His weather- worn face was full of inexplicable worry.

After a while, the doctor came out with a pile of forms in his hand. He looked at us and asked, "Whois the child's guardian?"

"All of us!" I answered as my eyes fell on the test sheets in his hand.

The doctor looked at us and said, "Everyone, let's go to my office together!"

Then, he gestured for us to follow him into the office.
