Chapter 1145

Stunned by his question, I asked, "There is no garage under the base and no warehouse either. What's wrong?"

He frowned slightly. "The way it's built makes it seem like there is something inside such buildings!"

Probably thinking of something, he did not say anything else for a while before he changed thesubject. "Let's have lunch together?"

I shook my head. "No, I..."

"Are you going to avoid me all the time?" He raised his eyebrows. "After all, we are partners. It'snormal for work partners to invite each other to have a meal together, isn't it?"

I knew his temperament. If I continued to refuse him like this, he would probably find other ways tofollow me. So I nodded reluctantly, "Well, there is a restaurant at the back of the base, it's not thatgood, but it's enough to fill the stomach. I still have to work after lunch, so we can't waste time goingto other restaurants!"

He nodded and said, "Okay!"

The restaurant behind the base was not very big. To eat at the hotel was a hassle, as it was quite adistance from the base. It would've taken more than an hour to travel back and forth.

Therefore, Sebastian built a temporary restaurant behind the base and hired a chef to cook for theemployees. It was really convenient.

We found a seat and sat down. Irvin placed some juice in front of me, "It's freshly squeezed!"

"Thank you!"

Throughout lunch, I kept my head down and ate silently. It seemed that Irvin had nothing to say.

After we were done eating, there was still some time before we needed to get back to work. I reallywanted to go back to the office to rest, but he said, "You know the place around here. Why don't yougive me a tour of the grounds since we still have some time?"novelbin

I pursed my lips and said blandly, "Please go on on your own. You can check out the fruit forest inthe area." Then I got up to leave.

He grabbed my wrist, and I glared at him. "Let go!"

He remained indifferent and said, "I know you don't want to see me or spend time with me now, butfrom a certain point of view, as the manager of a third party, Miss Reid, I have a reason to ask youfor a tour of the area."

"You're just exploiting business for private gain!" I said, shaking off his hand, "Fine. Let's go!"

There were pear trees near the base, and most of the pears were ripe. There were fruit farmerspicking them to sell in the market.

After walking for a while, Irvin said, "There's no need for you to treat me this way. Arianna, I didn'tmean to destroy your happiness. If possible, I hope we can get along well. Is that okay?"

I stopped to look him in the eye, "Do you think we can get along well after all that's happened?"

He looked at me emotionlessly but sounded sincere. "I know that you don't want to get involved withme because you are afraid that I will destroy the happiness between you and Hendrix. My affectionsare a burden. You don't have to tell me this. I know it very well!"

I pursed my lips and didn't answer him. What he said was true.

After a pause, he said, "In fact, I wish for your happiness more than anyone else. I originally thoughtthat Hendrix was a cold man without feelings. I thought if he couldn't give you happiness, I could. But now I see that Hendrix treats you well. In fact, he's not as bad as I thought. So why can't I giveyou my generous blessing? I'll protect you well, as a friend. As long as you're happy, I won't disturbyour life anymore."
