Before I could find the words to say, Hendrix continued on, "Evan will be sending you something toeat later. Eat your lunch, or I will teach you a lesson when I get back."
His tone made him sound like he was a stern parent who was scolding their kid. I pursed my lipsand muttered, "It's not like I'm not going to eat. Why are you being so insistent?"
The doorbell rang. Hendrix said, "It's Evan. Go and open the door. Remember to eat well."novelbin
"Okay!" I replied as the corners of my lips twitched, and I got up to see Evan.
He was carrying a lot of things, including fruits, vegetables, and a few lunch boxes, which looked alittle heavy.
I said into the phone, "Hendrix, I'll hang up first!"
After hanging up on the call, I reached out to take the food from Evan. He passed the lunch boxover to me and said, "These are the dishes Mr. Roberts saw when he was eating at SanoviaRestaurant. He thought that you would like it, so he ordered a few dishes and asked me to bringthem to you."
As he spoke, he took the things in his hands and walked towards the kitchen in the hall. Then, heput all the fruits in his hands onto the cabinet.
I opened the lunch box to have a look. It consisted of well- made seafood dishes that lookedexpensive.
Looking around at the huge amount of food, I couldn't help but say, "They look delicious, but itseems like there's a little too much for me."
Evan smiled and said, "Mr. Roberts said that you wouldn't enjoy yourself if you ate alone, so youcan ask Miss Attwood to come over and eat with you."
Indeed, I wanted to call Naomi at first, but I thought that she wouldn't be awake yet, so I gave up onthat idea. I didn't want to wake her up, so I thought that I should just wait.
Seeing Evan putting all the fruits and vegetables into the refrigerator, I couldn't help asking, "Whydid you buy so many ingredients? I won't be having dinner at home tonight."
Evan replied, "Mr. Roberts said that there should be more things in the kitchen, otherwise it will beinconvenient for you when you want to eat in."
I nodded slightly and asked, "Did you guys go to Sanovia to discuss work today?"
As he sorted out the vegetables, he shook his head and said, "No, it was Mr. Shelly and MissBurton who came over, so we went there for a meal!"
My mind went blank momentarily. I asked, "Andrea Burton went along as well?"
He nodded, pursed his lips slightly and replied, "The Lancille Village Project has been stalled. Thereare a lot of things waiting for Mr. Roberts to deal with. Mr. Shelly couldn't deal with them on his own,so he brought the documents over personally."
Humming in assent, I said nothing else.
Seeing that I didn't continue asking questions, Evan looked at me and paused for a moment,"Madam, please don't overthink things. Miss Burton came here with Mr. Shelley. She hasn't been ingood condition for the past two years. Mr. Shelley has been taking care of her the whole time. Hetook her here to Asherton this time because he didn't want to leave her alone. Mr. Roberts had noidea about that beforehand."
He was in too much of a hurry to explain, making him seem anxious. I just smiled and said, "Youdon't have to explain anything. They are all friends. It's normal for them to eat together. I am not thatclose-minded a person!"
My cell phone rang with a call from Naomi. Seeming to have just woken up, she asked, "What areyou doing?" "Nothing, I'm just here at home! Are you finally
awake?"
Probably stretching her body, she sighed as she replied, "Yes, I just woke up, and I'm still in bed!""Tidy yourself up a little and come over for lunch. Evan brought a lot of delicious food from SanoviaRestaurant. Come over and eat with me!"
She chuckled and said, "Oh dear, you know me too well. I woke up from hunger just now. Give me amoment, I'll be there in no time!"
