Chapter 1051

My thoughts scattered. He is obviously trying to hurt Rowane!

Fortunately, I was feeling kind-hearted enough to spare Rowane, so I held back my impulse tocough. I gritted my teeth in a forced smile, almost gnashing my teeth. "Don't you have any hands,Mr. Roberts?"

He pursed his lips, his usual calm demeanor nowhere to be seen, a certain malicious glee shining inhis eyes. "It's not convenient for me to do so. My hands are full!"

While speaking, he picked up the documents that he had put down and raised his eyebrows at mein silent challenge.

I glowered at him but before I could formulate a response, Rowane sprang up, unable to sit still anylonger. She said, "Mr. Roberts, I'll leave the documents to you. I still have something to do. I'llexcuse myself first!"

Then she left the courtyard, her face sullen.

I looked back at Hendrix, speechless for a moment. What was he trying to do?

A part of me admired Rowane's endurance. From the moment she came in until she left, she hadheld back her anger and kept a smile on her face the whole time.

When you love someone that much, I guess you could endure anything.

Putting down the fork, I lost my appetite. Looking at Hendrix, I said, "Mr. Roberts, if you don't likeher why don't you just tell her directly. When you use this method, how can you be regarded as agentleman?"

"I'm not a gentleman at all!" He smirked. "What's more, I'm a married man. As a woman, she shouldnot get close to any married man. That is the basic principle of decency. I don't need to tell her that!"

I grouched, a little flustered under his direct gaze. I said, "We are divorcing. You are a bachelor. Youcan't blame someone for falling in love with an outstanding person like you!"

He sneered. "If I am so excellent, why did you let me go?"

I...novelbin

Knowing that I couldn't defeat him in a verbal battle, I stood up and said, "When speaking aboutlove, even if that person is superb, that doesn't mean that he or she is suitable for everyone."

He stood up too, his gaze dimmed. "So, how do you know who is suitable?"

He was deliberately looking for trouble today. "Since Miss Zanes had left and we don't seem to haveanything else to discuss, I'll take my leave first!"

Hendrix grabbed my wrist, stopping me. My heart was pounding like crazy, and I tried my best tocalm down. "Mr. Roberts, what are you doing?"

He raised his eyebrows. "I was the one who took care of you from the time you fell into a pit inLancille Village until you were in the hospital recovering."

He leaned closer. "Even if I am a stranger to you, you should at least thank me for saving you, right?"

His imposing manner was starting to make me nervous. I mumbled a faint, "Thank you!"

"Hehe!" He laughed. His eyebrows mocked me. He was as handsome as ever. "Your thanks are toocasual!"

"How do you want me to thank you?" I could have smacked myself for what came out of my mouth.I knew that I would not like what he would say next. Even if he had a point. He did save me and Iwasn't an ungrateful person.

Pressed between the wall and his chest, I felt and heard his low, husky voice. With a devil-like grin,he said, "If you want to thank me sincerely, from tomorrow on, you will live here and take care of allmy meals."

I frowned and rejected him without thinking. "Hendrix, I take care of Sebastian's meals because Iam his employee. He is paying my salary."

He raised his eyebrows. "I'll pay you as well!"

I...

"No way!" I blurted out. This whole villa held bits and pieces of my past. If I moved in here, I'm afraidthat I would not be able to reject him in the end.
