Chapter 1049

As I spoke, I reached out to take the bowl from his hands but he held onto it firmly. I was shockedand stared at him with my eyes wide open.

As if nothing had happened, he said, "After we wash the bowls, let's go together. Rowane wanted tosee me because of the case of Lancille Village. You are the person in charge, so you mustparticipate in our little meeting!"

I rolled my eyes, my mouth pinched. Was he dense? Rowane wasn't here to discuss the project withhim at all. He must have a screw loose in his head.

After we finished in the kitchen, he tidied up and looked at me from top to bottom. Then he asked,"Do you want to get changed before we go?"

Flabbergasted that he noticed my sloppy, casual getup. I looked down at my clothes. I was definitelytoo informally dressed. I expected to be at home all day so my hair was in a simple knot and I hadn'tbothered with makeup.

But we were only heading next door. And it wasn't like we were going somewhere special. I shookmy head. "No, I'm fine!"

I'm going to be a third wheel anyway, however I dressed. What's the point of making myselfbeautiful? Better be comfortable.

He frowned and didn't push the matter. "Let's go!"novelbin

Naomi and Sebastian were chatting in the yard. They looked like a couple in love and were stuck toeach other like glue.

After informing them of where we were going, I accompanied Hendrix out. As we exited, I sawRowane standing at the door of the villa next door.

She drove a red Cadillac and wore a white dress. With her delicate makeup and her long glossyhair, she looked like a goddess.

Rowane was a little surprised to see me but hid further reactions smoothly.

She focused on Hendrix, a gentle smile appearing on her face as she greeted him, "Mr. Roberts!"

Hendrix nodded and told me, "Open the door!"

"I don't know the password!" I said with uncertainty. How would I know what his password was? Itwas his house, not mine!

He said casually, "Your birthday!"

I saw Rowane's face tighten with anger. Hendrix was doing this on purpose.

I quickly typed in my birthday. When the door opened, Hendrix looked at Rowane and said, "Go in!"

There was a Chinese-style pavilion in the yard. When the weather was perfect, it would be abeautiful place for discussions.

Hendrix led us to the pavilion and looked at me. "Go and make us a few cups of tea. There aresome fruits in the refrigerator. Cut some and bring them out!"

"Me?" I hesitated.

He raised his eyebrows. "Do you object?"

Of course I objected! Wasn't I here to discuss the project? When did I become the errand girl?

Rowane put down the lunch box and said with a smile, "Let me do it, Mr. Roberts. Miss Reid shouldrest. You can eat first and see if you like it!"

"There's no need!" Hendrix said as he looked at me. "Arianna can go. She is more familiar with myhouse!"

What?

I have never even been to his house! What was I familiar with?

Although Rowane had a smile on her face, it was forced and unnatural.

What was Hendrix doing? Not bothering to prolong the situation, I didn't argue further and went tothe door.

The passcoded, locked door. I looked at Hendrix impatiently.

He had a slightly satisfied look on his face. Raising his eyebrows, he answered my unspokenquestion, "Our daughter's birthday!"

My heart skipped a beat, and I gulped. I couldn't describe the emotions that ran through me.

I entered Anne's birthday. The door opened.
