I couldn't recall the last time I had such a peaceful sleep. I felt as if all the anxieties around me had

decided to go on vacation. My mind was clear, and all the burning emotions were locked away, leaving

my heart at ease. I needed that. It was the first time that I woke up at dawn completely regenerated and

filled with energy. I was burdenless, although I didn't know where that carefree state came from.

Since I had a lot of time before my appointed training, I used it on something I hadn't done for at least a

year: I meditated. I slowly began to put all the tiny blocks of thoughts in order, fixing what was broken

and healing my pain in the depths of my mind. Once I opened my eyes, I felt different, focused, as if I

had entered some space that had been locked for years but was now open.

As I was sitting on the floor by the bed, I looked through the window and suddenly saw the details my

eyes only yesterday couldn't reach. I could see the different colors of the feathers of a bird sitting on the

branch of the tree that was approximately a thousand feet away. Then I looked at the floor and easily

noticed every shape and shade of tiny cracks in the wood. I chuckled, stunned by the newly developed

ability, but the sight wasn't my only enhanced sense. Once I closed my eyes, I could hear the steps of

the people walking downstairs. I could differentiate them by their pace, their weight, and count them.

Then I breathe in the air through my nostrils and indicate the remaining smell of Beta Ari and the old

lady that brought food to my room. The downside to it was that I could also smell my skin… stinking

and demanding an instant shower.

A stupid grin couldn't leave my face while experiencing the sensation of drops of water tapping my skin

in an amazingly different way than before. The new part of me had awakened, and I couldn't wait to test

the sharpness of my senses while training. I acted as if I had overdosed on caffeine and had become

hyperactive. I had done some stretching, feeling more flexible than ever. Then I dressed in black

leggings and a fitted tank top and waited for Beta Ari to take me on training. He came just like he said

he would, at quarter to eight.

"I can see that you're ready to get your butt kicked," he chuckled at hello.

"Well, we'll see whose butt is going to suffer more after the training," I smirked, putting on a zipped

sweatshirt before walking out the door.

"Cocky, aren't we today?" he grinned as we walked along the corridor heading for the stairs.

"I simply woke up with new confidence." I shrugged.

We walked out of the main building, and Ari led me to the training grounds at the back of the mansion.

There was a large empty field. It was smoothly raked and prepared for ground training. Further away,

where the field ended, was a huge house the size of an industrial warehouse. As soon as we entered

the field, I noticed other wolves heading in the same direction as Are and me. There were about fifty or

sixty of them.

"We are starting indoors today." Ari pointed at that house ahead of us.

As soon as we walked inside my jaw dropped. The space was enormous, larger than the Royal Army's

arena. It had several floors of construction on the outer side of the main circle, perfect to stage any type

of unconventional battle. The pack's warriors were gathering inside, and the place soon became

crowded. I had spotted less than ten females among them, and even they were all taller and more

muscled than I was. All the men looked like beasts even while they were in human form. I slowly

became less confident than I was before walking in there.

Ari snorted and looked at me like he was sorry for me. "Alpha must still be pissed at you. It looks like

you will be training alongside the elite squad."

I smiled nervously, trying to stay composed although my subconscious was tracking all the possible

exits from that building. Finally, Draven entered, and the crowd spread to the sides like the Red Sea.

His confident and graceful walk almost made me bow to him. Every step he took proved that he was a

leader, and God, what a leader he was. He wore black sweatpants and a black tank top, which gave

me the first opportunity to admire his perfectly sculptured, broad shoulders, his arm muscles covered

with tribal tattoos, and his forearms with visible veins, shifting at his smooth gestures. The tank top

beautifully exposed the shape of his chest and abdominal muscles. Just by looking at him, I knew he

must have been a hell of a warrior since his body seemed like an ideally designed killing machine. I

gulped when our eyes met. With a flash in his eye, he formed a wicked smirk on his face and walked

straight towards me. I felt as if a spotlight was pointed at my face. Ari, the traitor, stepped behind me

with an expression displaying amusement. Everyone's eyes were on Draven and me as he stood right

in front of me, slowly scanning me from my head to my toes. With a sly smirk on his face, he grabbed

my sweatshirt's zipper and undressed me from it within two seconds. Once he did, his eyes landed on

my neckline and my breasts.

"That's much better," he said while his beast eyes devoured every part of my body.

His sight was so intense that I could barely move my finger, paralyzed as prey in front of the deadliest

predator. He snorted and put his arm around my shoulder, positioning me opposite the rest of the

gathered pack members.

"This is Lilith," he introduced me. "She is the human daughter of Randall D'Apolito."

I stared at him in disbelief. How could he just announce it like that?! At the sound of my father's name,

the wolves revealed their fangs and began snarling at me. As I could sense the rapidly rising scent of

hostility, all of my instincts were telling me to run out of there. I tried to shake off his arm from my

shoulders, but he strengthened his grip, not letting me escape.

"She is not an ordinary human. She is the daughter of two Alphas, and that gave her her own kind of

skills. She will join us from today." He meaningfully looked me up and down, "I want to test her and see

if she can benefit the pack."

With his words, the wicked snorts and laughs of warrior wolves spread across the hall. I seriously

wanted to kill Draven for what he did. I glowered at him, letting him know that I was going to remember

what he did today, but he shot me a lopsided smile and then pushed me forward so I could join the

warm-up that Beta Ari started.

Thank God that my stamina improved a lot since my super-genes activated. Otherwise, I would be

dead long before Ari finished running the warming exercises. Nonetheless, it wasn't the exercises that

were hard to handle but the murderous glares I felt on me wherever I moved. Those wolves certainly

weren't my father's fans, but, unluckily for me, Alpha Draven hadn't mentioned that I probably hated

Randall D'Apolito not less than them!

After the "brief" sixty-minute warm-up, everyone went outside to run a few more miles before the

sparring part began. I lost count on how many times someone deliberately prodded my elbow, or my

shoulder, or tried to cut my legs. The wolves were angry and vicious, and they decided to take their

hatred out on me, the daughter of their enemy. Perhaps I should be thankful for my fate that I wasnovelbin

supposed to be Draven's mate because I couldn't even imagine what this workout could look like if he

treated me like the enemy…

My rage directed at Draven fueled my muscles, making me faster than all the other wolves. Holding to

that anger I ran back to the training house first, watching the uncovered surprise paining on the faces of

Ari and Draven. I ran towards them and stopped inches away from Draven.

"What's next… Alpha?" I smirked at him.

Ari turned away his head with his hand covering his mouth, barely holding his laugh. Draven glared at

me. I guessed that seeing me more than keeping everyone else's pace slightly ruined the plan he had

for me. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me next to him. Then he waited for the rest of his elite squad to

get back to the hall.

"You let the human outrun you?!" he roared, glowering at his warriors. "You have one last chance to

protect your honor! Who is ready to challenge Randall D'Apolito's daughter?!"

His voice came like thunder across the hall. Even the walls shivered at its force. The wave of muttering

spread among the warriors, and it wasn't long before someone raised his hand and stepped to the

front.

"I will fight her," said a beast-like man, easily towering over me with his 6.5-foot height.

A hysteric laugh escaped my throat. He was bulky and his muscles were not inferior to those Alpha

Draven had. He walked closer, forming a deadly grin on his face. His upper lip uncovered his sharp

fangs, showing me how ready to tear my flesh he was. I glanced at Draven, still hoping that he wouldn't

let his mate fight an ogre, but he only smirked at me and let go of my wrist.

"Be my guest, Brick," Draven grinned at him, approving our duel.

"Brick?" I choked out, "Your name is Brick?"

The beast-man chuckled, letting me know that he was named suitably to his strength. I took a deep

breath and glanced at Draven and Ari one more time. Draven seemed unmoved and even annoyed

that I didn't step into the circle yet.

Ari gave me a wry, apologetic smile. "Good luck," he muttered.

I cracked my neck at both sides and quickly circled my shoulders while jumping from one foot to the

other. Then I took a big step forward joining Brick in the hall's center.

"Let's get done with it," I smirked daringly.

Fume came out of Brick's nostrils when he looked down on me. Then he gestured to the crowd, and all

of them started calling his name. Seriously, this situation was getting on my nerves more and more. As

Brick stepped away from me, I exhaled and stood in a fighting stance. He took his time, already

celebrating victory before he started. He walked around chuckled and grinned at the crowd, telling them

to chant his name louder. I used this time to observe the way he walked and stood still waiting for his

move.

My sharpened senses amazed me. I was able to catch on to the fact that Brick suffered from a recent

injury on his left shoulder which would make his left arm slightly slower than his right. His movements

were quite ponderous, although the muscles undoubtedly could give him ten times my strength.

Nevertheless, I was ready to fight him.

Finally, he stopped gloating about his yet-to-be-claimed victory and instantly charged at me with a

venomous growl.

"Fuck," I muttered under my breath, watching him looking at a train coming at me at full speed.

I didn't know what sent an impulse to my muscles, but suddenly I jumped high as never before and

kicked the storming at me Brick-locomotive right in the face. Brick fell to the ground. Gasps spread

around as I landed back on my feet.

"I transformed into Spider-woman," I chuckled to myself.

As the beast-warrior was ready to strike again, my confidence doubled. I dared him with a sweet grin

on my face that nearly made him lose his mind. The fury drove him forward, but his speed couldn't

possibly match mine. I threw a series of punches at him before he could land a single one. I dodged

him easily, secretly laughing at his inept attempts, so easy to predict. After a few more of my kicks, I

was an inch away from knocking him down. I couldn't believe that I was able to win against him with

this little effort. The crowd observed this situation with an outspoken shock. I looked at Brick; he was

swaying on his feet. I knew this was my chance to end this fight. I ran at him and threw a roundhouse

kick. He fell facedown. The crowd went silent.

I glanced at Draven meaningfully. The corners of his lips curled up in a smug smirk, and when he

looked at me I could see a strange hint of pride. I smiled at him, finally letting myself pant, releasing my

tightened muscles.

Suddenly a spiteful roar pierced the room. I turned my head to my defeated opponent and noticed him

getting up, fuming and snarling. He shot me the most terrifying glare I had ever met and shifted to his

wolf form…

"Oh fuck."
