Chapter 9

Celena cried and said, “Camilla, I won’t agree to that monster. Do you know? Jovie’s only six, but hegot someone to run over her with a car. He even stopped the medical staff at the hospital to saveJovie. She’s just a child.”

Camilla felt sorry to see Celena like that, but she had no idea how to comfort her. She could only sitnext to her, hand her a tissue, and let her have a good cry.

“Camilla, Jovie’s still at the hospital. I’m truly worried,” said Celena as she sobbed.

“It’s not that I don’t want to help you. I’m sure you know that this

place is filled with Mr. Walker’s men. If he found out that I let you go, won’t be able to survive aswell. You know how vicious that man can

be,” Camilla explained.

She felt very troubled. She wanted very badly to help Celena, but she did not dare to offend Trent.

It might seem glamorous for her to be the manager of the

Nightwalker Club, but she had to be extremely cautious as well. If she were to cross the wrongperson one day, she might not even be able to stay alive.

Celana cried for a while before calming down. She wiped her tears. Then, as if she made up hermind, she fixed her makeup and said, Thank you, Camilla. I understand everything you said. You’recaught between a rock and a hard place as well.

“But please do me a favor. Help me go to the hospital to check on Jovie. I’m worried about her. Idon’t trust anyone else to do this.”

Camilla had tears welling in her eyes as well. She wiped the tears off novelbin

the corner of her eyes and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll go there myself later. I’ll give you a call when I getthere.”

Camilla had known Celena for years.

From the time she got pregnant to the moment she was driven out of her home, Celena had it roughfor years.

When Celena first got pregnant, Camilla advised her to terminate her pregnancy. However, Celenarefused. She said it was a human life no matter what. Besides, the child did not do anything wrong.Without hesitation, Celena raised her child alone for years.

Celena felt very grateful when she learned that Camilla was willing to go to the hospital.

She held Camilla’s hand and said, “Thank you. If Jovie asks for me, just say that I’ve gone to workand I’ll go back to see her after work. Tell her to be a good girl.”

Upon saying that, Celena took a deep breath and plucked up her

courage to open the door of the lounge. She was about to return to the private room that was justlike hell.

Celena looked like she was not afraid to sacrifice herself anymore. After Camilla saw that, she couldnot hold it in anymore.

While wiping her tears, she went up to Celena in big strides and stopped her. “No, I can’t let you gethurt. Come with me. I’ll get you out of here. Go to the hospital and leave Drunham City with Jovie.”

Celena was stunned. She let Camilla pull her toward the fire escape. After she regained her senses, she gave it a thought and stopped Camilla from going forward.

“Listen to me, Camilla. I’m thankful that you’re willing to go to the hospital to check on Jovie for me.I can’t cause you more harm. You know that Trent is a brute. You can’t get yourself in troublebecause

of me. You have a family,” said Celena.

“But I can’t let you risk your life. You’re different from the women here. You’re a good woman. I can’twatch you walk straight into hell. Do you know who Mr. Walker invited today? A lot of women diedbeing toyed with by them.”

Camilla felt a chill down her spine at the thought of those people. She could not bring herself towatch Celena get herself killed.

Celena knew that the people who could have fun with Trent were not normal. However, she alsoknew that Trent would go crazy taking revenge against Camilla if she did not go back into the room.

Celena could not get Camilla into trouble when Camilla showed her kindness.

“Maybe this is just my fate, Camilla, If I really- Help me send Jovie to an orphanage in another city.If we ever meet in another life, I will repay the great kindness you’ve shown me then,” said Celena.

She shook Camilla’s hand away, turned around, and walked toward the

private room. d

“Have you thought about Jovie? Are you going to abandon her just like that? Where’s her father?Jovie has been going on and on about wanting to meet her father. Is he not going to show up aftersuch a big thing happened in the family?” asked Camilla.

The thought of that man-made Camilla’s blood boil. He let Celena, a powerless woman, shouldereverything. He did not even care about his daughter.
