Chapter 86

As they were about to head inside, a sleek car rolled up, stopping right next to Celena and Liam. The door swung open, and Cheryl and Wasyl stepped out, their arms laden with ornate, expensiveboxes. novelbin

Not far behind, more cars pulled up. Out came Yafe and Walter, each holding their own set ofelegant gift boxes.

Cheryl’s eyes locked onto Celena, and she said sarcastically, “Well, well, what do we have here? Ifit isn’t my dear sister, so desperate to come back home.” She gave them a once-over, her gazelingering on their empty hands. “Thinking of meeting Mr. Lynch, are you? Are you here with thatstench of poverty on you, not even a decent gift to your name? How utterly disgraceful.”

“I…” Celena’s voice faltered. Cheryl’s taunts had snuffed out the last ember of her courage, leavingher feeling utterly defeated.

She had had nothing, not even a presentable gift. Why would Mr. Lynch ever consider her for theproject cooperation unless he had lost his mind?

Cheryl stepped closer, looking as dark as a storm cloud. With her icy glare, she bore down onCelena. “You do know where you are, don’t you? Scram, before you make a bigger fool of yourselfand the Stone family. How would you deal with it if you ruined our deal with the Max Group?”

Celena, already on the verge of backing out, felt her resolve crumble under Cheryl’s relentlessquestioning. She turned a ghostly shade of white and glanced at Liam. She whispered, “I… I…Liam, let’s just go… We didn’t even bring a gift…”

Liam, however, smiled and encouraged her, “We’re here now, might as well check it out. Whoknows? They might end up wanting to partner

That would be crazy!

Cheryl could not help but laugh at Liam’s optimism, her sneer dripping with contempt as shemocked, “Are you still half asleep or

something? Why would he work with you? What do you have to offer? A few jars of cream?”

Wasyl gave a disdainful snort. He looked at Liam with an icy glare as he recalled being humiliatedby him at a birthday party. “Just an ex- soldier with more brawn than brains. Do you think you cancompete for a project collaboration here?”

Yafe and the others could not hide their displeasure as they l on at Celena and Liam. Yafe had it theworst. Every time Celena showed up, whispers about his scandal and his unwed child w start. Thelooks he got were full of people delighting in his misfort
