Celena’s head snapped up, looking at Liam. Liam’s striking features and his bright, steadfast gazewere brimming with affection as he looked at her. “Celena, don’t be scared. I’m right here,” Liamwhispered.

It shattered the walls around Celena’s heart. The chaos within was suddenly wrapped in acomforting warmth, and tears streamed down her cheeks as her small hand clung to Liam’s with allher might.

At that moment, a piercing female voice cut through the hall, mak the atmosphere even moreoppressive. The glares aimed at Cele turned sharper.

“Celena! What are you doing here? Why did you bring Liam? Came to gloat over my troubles, didyou? Haven’t you done enough damage to the Stone family? You’ve already wrecked myengagement party, and now you’re here with him, stirring up trouble at Grandpa’s birthday, just toupset him, right?”

with her furious stare.

She had been waiting for that moment to confront the woman she despised.

Cheryl was convinced that Celena, given any opportunity, would show up despite her despicabledeeds. Celena would still harbor hope of returning to the Stone family, hoping to win Grandpa’sfavor.

Cheryl was seething with a vengeance. She was going to make Celena pay and crush her pridebeneath her feet. The nerve of her, to manipulate Liam into wrecking Cheryl’s engagement party, turning her into Drunham City’s laughing stock. Even today, people were snickering behind herback. That was a pill too bitter to swallow.

this?”

The sound of Cheryl’s heels echoed sharply as she marched up to Celena, fury and contemptwritten all over her face. With a swift motion, she slapped Celena hard. She looked so angry, as ifshe

wished she could rip her apart.

“Please, if you’re going to make up a story, at least make it believable! Me, send an invite to you, apariah kicked out by the Stone family? Do you think I’d invite you after you spurred Liam to

sabotage my engagement? You probably faked this invite yourself!”

With that, Cheryl snatched the invitation from Celena’s grasp, flung it to the floor, and stamped on itwith disdain.

The whole spectacle unfolded before the eyes of the guests, leaving the Stone family speechless. Then, the jeers and taunts rained down.

“Celena, the troublemaker! Hasn’t she done enough damage to the Stone family? Now she’s here tocause more chaos, utterly revolting!”

“Exactly! Forging an invite as if anyone in the Stone family would want her there?”

“The Stone family certainly doesn’t harbor the likes of them, and yet here they are, bringing the Colefamily’s black sheep and that little illegitimate child right to their front door!
