Chapter 222

Samara's soft voice instantly brought Celena's thoughts back to the past when they spent their daystogether. Tears flowed down Celena's cheeks uncontrollably as she kept responding by nodding.

"Samara, I would like to apologize to you as well. What I did back then was wrong as well. Let's letthe bygones be bygones. We're still good friends!"

Then, the two hugged each other while crying tears of joy. If people who did not know better sawsuch a touching moment, they would think they were as close as sisters who were related by blood.

However, in Liam's eyes, everything that Samara did looked different. Her actions seemed too fake.

That was because even though Samara was hugging Celena and looking so affectionate, Liamcould tell there was ridicule and hatred in her eyes. Perhaps Celena was the only one there whowas naive enough to not have noticed it.

Everyone there looked extremely hypocritical. They were like wolves in sheep's clothes and mightjust pounce at any moment.

At that moment, Yanely, who was ignored by the others, suddenly pointed at Liam. She pretendedto be kind and said, "Gosh, Celena, Samara, stop with your public displays of affection! Have youforgotten to introduce this gentleman to everyone?"novelbin

With that, everyone's gaze, including Celena's, landed on Liam as he stood at the entrance.

Celena then hastily stood up and wiped away the tear in the corner of her eye. She quickly walkedup to Liam and introduced him to everyone.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce him to you. This is my husband!" said Celena.

All the men who were present looked disappointed upon hearing that. It seemed that the beautywho looked pure was here with her husband. But they all still put on a light smile.

One of the men stood up, straightened his suit jacket, and looked toward Liam with a face filled withridicule and curiosity. At last, his greedy gaze landed on Celena.

"So this is your husband, Ms. Stone. I wonder what he does for a living. Why would he be dressedso…shabbily? Aren't you the daughter of the Stone family? Why would you saddle yourself withsuch a man for a husband? Is it because he feels we're beneath him that he didn't bother changinghis clothes?"

After the man took the lead in making a fuss, the others started to chime in. They were allquestioning Celena and Liam on whether or not they looked down on them, and if Celena thoughtthat her friends mattered.

At first, Celena was stunned as she did not expect that the man would say that. Then, shenervously wanted to explain, but Liam beat her to the reply.

"I don't have a job. I'm only here today to accompany my wife." Liam nonchalantly talked about howhe did not work. There was no sign of embarrassment on his face. He said it so calmly as if this wasa matter of course and nothing out of the ordinary.

However, the people there did not agree.

"What? So you're living off your wife's money?"

The man who was standing looked at Liam tauntingly. He even started to ridicule Liam loudly withthe men beside him.

"Did you hear that? That's too shameless! He's quite proud to be living off his wife's money. Howcould one be so thick-skinned? He's a grown man, yet he is surviving on his wife's earnings!"

"Hahaha, you're right! This is too funny!"

Yanely was also smiling with ridicule at the side. She crossed her arms and sneered before saying,"Oh, come on! It's not like you didn't know this is that loser from the Cole family who fell back then—Liam! He has married into the Stone family and is currently living with them now!"
