Chapter 216

The sight of Celena kneeling for him made Liam feel a sense of heartache. Why was she always sosoft-hearted, so kind? Could she still not see that the Stones never treated her as a family?

"Celena, stand up! You don't have to plead to them! Don't beg them on your knees for me!"

Liam held out his hand, wanting to help Celena up from the ground.

However, after Liam helped Celena up, she immediately turned around and slapped him across hisface.

She was a blubbering mess, and she broke down as she shouted, "Liam! That's enough! When willyou stop making a mess of everything? I have told you many times to not create any trouble! Whywon't you listen?

"Because of you, I lost my family for seven years! Do you know how I survived the past sevenyears? Now that I'm finally back, do you want to make me lose my family again? Are you only goingto be happy then?"

Celena then snatched Jovie from Liam's arms while she was all worked up. Her eyes werebloodshot and tears streaming down her cheeks.

She had a meltdown as she buried her head in Jovie's shoulder. Then, she shouted in pain, "Liam,Jovie is my daughter! I don't need you to do anything for us. As you know, there's not muchaffection between us. I'm grateful that you were able to return that day. I'm thankful for everythingthat you have done for Jovie and me! But, the whole reason that we have to endure all this is you! It's all you!"

At that point, Celena started to bawl. The hardships of the past seven years and all the pent-uppressure since returning to the Stone family finally boiled over.

The grievances in her heart and all that pressure were all released.

Seven years ago, she went from being the lady of a prominent family to someone despised by allovernight. She had to endure all the disdain and ridicule from everyone, as well as the taunting andabuse from her closest family members.

After surviving the seven years, she finally returned to the Stone family. Just as she thought thateverything would change for the better once she returned, everything took a turn for the worseinstead.

Liam was stunned by Celena's slap. A fresh red handprint gradually appeared on his cheek. Helooked at Celena with a conflicted expression as she hugged Jovie and bawled. He felt a sense ofheartache.

He wanted to protect her and Jovie. He wanted to give them the best of everything. However, seeing how things turned out, he started to doubt whether what he did was right. Perhaps he waswrong?

"Celena, I'm sorry."

Liam looked at Celena with guilt and self-blame. He held out his hand to hug her, but the momenthe raised his hand, he stopped himself.

At that moment, Reignald's cold snort interrupted them. He questioned Liam, "Tell me, Liam. What'sthe deal with the car at the entrance? You'd better come clean!"novelbin

Hearing this, Liam turned toward Reginald and frowned, "I bought the car on my own. If you guysdon't believe me, you could always check the records. The card I used is mine, and the money inthe account came from my years of salary and my retirement pension. This is information that youcould find out easily with some investigation!

"As for your blatant accusation and forceful coercion that Celena embezzled funds from thecompany, don't you find yourself ridiculous? Whether or not she misused the funds, can't you justcheck with the finance department of your company? Can't you check the company's accounts?"

Liam took out his card and threw it directly to Reginald.

With a frown, Reginald signaled his butler with a nod. The butler immediately made a call to thefinance department.

Soon, they got a reply from the finance department. The call was put on speaker mode so everyonecould hear it.
