Chapter 697

Mandy instinctively turned her gaze toward Esther when Bradley touched her. Seeing Esther’s eyesdim, she politely thanked Bradley, saying, “Bradley, I’m truly sorry for the trouble.”

Bradley remained silent.

Esther quietly averted her gaze. When Bradley had his arm around Mandy earlier, a fleeting pang ofsadness gripped her heart.

It was a brief moment of pain, but it brought clarity to Esther. Bradley had found a new love interest, which was a positive development. It meant he wouldn’t be fixated on her alone anymore. When he fellin love with Mandy, he would eventually grow tired of Esther and set her free.

Esther entered the kitchen, preparing a fruit platter for Mandy and Liora.

While working, she contemplated whether she should assist Mandy in pursuing Bradley. Mandy hadsaved Bradley’s life by donating her liver, which technically made her his savior. If Mandy took a moreproactive approach to win Bradley’s heart, it might be just what they needed. After all, it was ofteneasier for a woman to pursue a man than the other way around.

Esther had clearly forgotten her own past failures in this area.

Bradley subtly withdrew his hand as soon as Bradley and Mandy were out of Esther’s sight.

At that moment, Mandy felt relief. Bradley’s touch on her shoulder had felt unsettling, like a coiledvenomous snake ready to strike.

The three of them headed upstairs. As soon as Liora entered the room, she began complaining aboutthe simplicity of the accommodations. Compared to her previous room, this villa’s room felt far lesscomfortable and even shabby.

“Are you satisfied?” Bradley asked curtly.

Mandy pretended to be delighted and softly replied, “Thank you, Bradley. I’m very happy.”

Liora started to speak, but Mandy quickly stepped forward and gripped her arm as a subtle warning.“Bradley, my mother is tired. I’d like to take care of her so she can rest.”

Bradley briefly scanned the room before leaving.novelbin

Once the bedroom door was closed, Mandy rubbed her temples and scolded Liora in a hushed tone,“Mom, can’t you see the situation? Don’t you realize that because of you and Dad, we can’t survive inCapitus anymore?”

“I… I didn’t do anything,” Liora protested, sulking on the edge of the bed.

Mandy couldn’t help but chuckle. Her lifelong pet peeve had always been the extramarital affairs thatruined people’s marriages. It was something else to be an extramarital affair like Liora.

“Mom, did you truly do nothing? You wrecked Selene and Dad’s marriage!”

Liora complained, “Richard doesn’t love her. The most pitiable person is the one who isn’t loved.”

“Mom, do you think he loves you then?”

“Of course, your father loves me the most!”

“Mom, if he genuinely loved you, he would have divorced Selene and married you officially. Instead, hekept you as a mistress! And he wouldn’t have sent your child to Selene either!!

“Do you know why he didn’t divorce her? Because he is a coward. He knew that everything he had wastied to the Cassells’ power. He also knew that divorcing Selene would damage his image and that you

couldn’t handle the responsibilities that come with being Mrs. Pendleton.

“Do you know what’s most despicable about him? He deceived two women! Such a man is trulydisgusting!”

Mandy had discovered that Richard had planned to have a test-tube baby with Selene to solidify theirmarriage.
