Chapter 631

Chadwick carefully set his wine glass on the table. “Mom, could you please refrain from making suchcomments on a day like today? Let’s approach this gently if you have reservations about Estherbecoming your daughter-in-law.”

Selene’s sharp gaze met Chadwick’s, and eventually, she relented. “I heard you recently donated yourliver, which is commendable. Starting today, you’re welcome at the Pendletons. Don’t worry. I’ll guideyou as if you were my own daughter.”

Observing Selene’s change in tone, Liora respectfully inquired, “Selene, Mandy is also getting married. How about teaching both Esther and Mandy together?”

Selene replied mockingly, “What can I teach her? How to deal with her husband’s mistress?”

Liora managed a forced smile.

Back when Mandy was known as Liliane, she frequently taunted Esther as the illegitimate love child. Now, experiencing this constant ridicule herself, Mandy understood the pain it caused.

“Mother, if I had a choice—”

Liora held Mandy’s hand, speaking in a hushed voice. “Selene, Mandy calls you ‘mother’. You canteach her too. I haven’t achieved much in my life, and Mandy is my only daughter. I hope she can livethe rest of her life happily.”

What Liora truly wished for was Mandy to marry outside the Pendletons. With the Pendletons’ support,Bradley must consider their influence in all his actions.

Selene glanced at Mandy. Seeing that Mandy hadn’t caused any trouble in front of her all these yearsand was now getting married, she finally agreed. “I’ll also teach her and show her that there are manypaths for a woman in life.”

Mandy’s hand throbbed from Liora’s pinching. She softly told Selene, “Thank you, Mother.”

Who in the world wanted to learn how to be someone’s wife?

Anyone wishing to emulate Selene, the lawful wife who endured mistreatment, was welcome to do so.

Mandy would endure significant sacrifices to bring down anyone who dared to upset her!

With Liora’s interruption, Selene’s gaze softened. She observed Esther, who appeared like a wronged, submissive woman, and thought about how unsophisticated she was—just as expected of someonewithout a mother to guide her!

If Esther didn’t have the support of the Quills, Selene would never have willingly allowed her preciousson to marry such a “second-hand” woman.

Upon hearing Selene’s thoughts, Sadie felt an intense urge to express her anger. The Quills restrainedher with their glances, but she was seething. She felt like she might have a heart attack if she stayedany longer. Halfway through the meal, she excused herself and left.

Esther hung her head low as she sat next to Chadwick.

Selene’s anger simmered as she observed how uninteresting and dull Esther appeared. Sheswallowed her frustration to avoid lashing out then and there.

“I apologize, please excuse me.” Esther set her napkin down and hurriedly left, despite the skepticalgazes she received.

She entered the restroom and gazed at herself in the mirror, feeling as if a dark cloud loomed over her.

After splashing some water on her face and applying lipstick from her bag, she told herself to endure alittle longer. When the Pendletons eventually fell apart, she would gain her freedom.novelbin

As she was about to leave, Bradley, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, covered her mouthand pulled her into one of the restroom stalls.

He forced Esther to sit on the toilet, looking down at her with a sense of superiority. An inexplicableurge for violence surged within him.

“Have you lost your mind?!”
