Chapter 537

Chapter 537

Esther’s tears flowed more freely than before as she pulled the quilt up around her, crying as if therewere no tomorrow.

Agatha deeply understood Esther’s pain at losing a child, as she had suffered a similar loss in heryouth. For any mother, losing a child felt like a piece of their very soul was torn away.

Agatha decided not to interrupt Esther’s grieving and arranged for food to be brought to the ward.Soon, the meal arrived.

Watching Esther wrapped in her quilt, Agatha spoke softly. “Esther, you neglected yourself after yourtriplets were born. It’s crucial to take better care this time.”

Esther didn’t respond.

“I understand your grief but don’t mourn for too long. Remember, you still have Felix,” Agatha advisedbefore leaving the

ward.

Esther cried for an unknown amount of time, then wiped her eyes. She eagerly grabbed the tray fromthe bedside table and ate the nutritious meal.

Agatha was right. The child simply wasn’t meant to be with her and Bradley,

She allowed herself a brief moment of tears, then composed herself. She had to be strong for Felix. She didn’t know if he had seen her dire state when she was taken away, covered in her blood. Thethought that this might haunt Felix’s dreams terrified

her.

Agatha had arranged a special postpartum recovery meal for Esther from the hospital. It included fruits, vegetables, meats, and a comforting sweet soup.

Esther channeled her sorrow into an insatiable appetite, finishing the meal. The pain in her lowerabdomen served as a reminder of the ordeal she had just survived.

Taking a deep breath to calm her overwhelming sadness, she picked up the phone and dialed thenurse’s station. “Could you please find Dr. Foster for me?” she requested.

Agatha arrived five minutes later, accompanied by Felix.

Seeing his mother’s pale face, Felix asked cautiously, “Mommy, are you sick?”

“No, sweetie, Mommy’s not sick,” Esther assured him, managing a weak smile. “I just don’t feel well.”

Esther couldn’t tell Felix he might have had a sibling if tragedy hadn’t struck. That unborn child, whonever saw the light of day, had been taken away by its own father.

“Mommy, hug,” Felix said, reaching out his chubby arms.

Holding Felix’s soft, round form, Esther felt warmth and tenderness. Felix seemed to fill all the emptyspaces in her heart that had been filled with sorrow and coldness.

“My love, Mommy loves you,” Esther whispered, her eyes misty, as she kissed Felix’s forehead.

She held him tightly…

Very tightly…novelbin

A chilling question consumed her mind. If Bradley used her pregnancy and miscarriage against her indivorce proceedings, could she still keep custody of Felix?

Felix tried to lift Esther’s spirits in various ways.

Determined not to disappoint him, she mustered a smile. But her body was weakened from significantblood loss, and despite a prompt transfusion, she struggled to stay awake.

Before long, drowsiness overcame her.
