Chapter 462

Chapter 462

After the two female bodyguards left, new male bodyguards took their places.

Jasper stood on the stairs, his expression grim as he observed the two female bodyguards. He sternlyquestioned them, “Is this the level of your performance?”

“Mr. Searle, the incident with Mr. Felix jumping out of the car was a complete accident-

“With the situation turning out like this, you still find it appropriate to argue? And what about the injuryon Esther’s neck? Are you suggesting she harmed herself out of boredom?”

The other bodyguard replied softly, “Mr. Searle, Mr. Warner caused the injury on Ms. Quill’s

neck.”

“This is my final warning to you. I hired you to ensure Esther’s safety. I don’t want such incidents tohappen again. If Bradley dares to do anything to Esther again, let him step over your bodies before hegets to do it. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Mr. Searle,” they said in unison.

Jasper dropped his polite and sophisticated facade that he showed to Esther. His menacing gazefocused on the two bodyguards, revealing a touch of hostility within him.

“Get lost!”

They hastily retreated to Esther’s side.

Jasper took out a cigarette from his suit pocket, about to light it, but then he saw a warning sign on thewall. He removed the cigarette from his lips, crushed it, and tossed it into a nearby trash can.

Jasper went to the restroom, turned on the tap, and meticulously washed his hands with soap. Insteadof using restroom paper towels, he took out a handkerchief from his suit pocket. He wiped his handsand went to Esther, waiting outside the operating room.

“Esther, should we inform Bradley about Felix’s injury?”

Esther shook her head, her voice filled with pain. “I don’t want to see him now.”

“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I should have informed Bradley when I saved Felix,” Jasper said with guilt. “Ikept thinking about you wanting to leave Bradley with Felix and the chance presented itself. I acted onmy own to leave Felix on the island. Esther, if I knew Felix would get into the accident, I wouldn’t havemade that decision.”

The usually kind-hearted Esther turned to comfort Jasper. Her voice choked. “Jasper, Felix’s accidentisn’t your fault, it’s mine! I shouldn’t have brought him back to the country. I should. have let himcompletely disappear from Bradley’s life.

“I knew Felix could become a tool for Bradley to threaten me, but I didn’t consider Felix’s safety. Iassumed Bradley wouldn’t harm him because of their relationship, but I never thought…”

Esther’s voice trailed off into sobs. Things had already happened, and it was futile no matter what shesaid or did.

If it were possible, she would rather be the one in the operating room.

If it were possible, she would take on all of Felix’s pain herself.

“Esther, not only did you not anticipate it, but I also didn’t expect Felix’s personality to be so strong-willed. He truly is your son. Both of you have an unyielding spirit.”

Esther smiled wryly. She looked at the operating room door and murmured in anguish, Jasper, do youknow what I regret most in my life?”

“What is it?” Jasper asked.

“It’s five years ago when I didn’t persist in seeking the truth due to my so-called self-esteem. Because Igave up on myself back then, I’ve become the person I am now.”

Jasper intentionally diverted Esther’s attention and teased, “I thought you were going to say youregretted knowing Bradley the most-

Jasper did not even finish when Bradley charged in front of him like a poisoned arrow. He grabbedJasper’s collar and angrily questioned, “Jasper, who do woman?”
