Chapter 438

Chapter 438

Considering that Felix was still young, Esther had a male attendant watching nearby in case anyaccidents occurred in the bathroom. She then took Sunshine to another bathroom.

The bathtub was filled with warm water, with a layer of white foam floating on the surface. There werealso many colorful little toys in the foam. After undressing Sunshine, Esther gently picked her up andplaced her in the bathtub.

She bathed Sunshine gently. When her gaze fell on the birthmark on Sunshine’s neck, she asked,“Sunshine, has this birthmark always been there?”

“Yes!” Sunshine said with pride, “Ms. Nun said it’s proof that God kissed me.”

Esther could not help but smile, her beautiful eyes filled with strong longing. “Sunshine, I might betaking Felix back to our home country for a while. Would you like to come with me for a short trip?”

Perhaps fate truly played a role in human relationships. Even though Esther had no

relationship with Anna, they felt an immediate connection upon their first meeting. The same was truefor Sunshine.

Esther had been worried that Felix, as the heir of the Warners, would be spoiled by Bradley. Moreover, when Felix and Sunshine first interacted, they did not get along well at all. No one expected them tobecome so close and chummy now.

“Mommy, are you and Felix leaving?”novelbin

Esther did not treat Sunshine like a child but explained seriously, “Yes, Pixie isn’t my daughter, proventhrough the DNA tests. Sunshine, I don’t know where my daughter is. I have to find her.”

“What should I do if I miss you?” Sunshine pouted, her eyes turning redder.

“My Sunshine, don’t cry. Mommy is afraid she will miss you too, which is why I’m asking if you’d like toleave here with us for a while.”

Sunshine played silently with the yellow duck in the bathtub before she answered slowly, “I can’t dothat. If I leave too, Anna will be all alone.”

Sunshine’s maturity and sensibility made Esther’s heart ache.

“What if we bring Anna too?” Esther was still reluctant to leave Sunshine behind and hoped to take heralong.

Sunshine excitedly exclaimed, “Then I want to go too!”

“Alright, let’s ask Anna.”

Esther suddenly realized something upon saying that. Sunshine and Twinkle’s custody was currentlywith the church. Could she and Anna still obtain their custody?

The study’s door was just one step away. With each step, Xara felt like she walked on a dangerousedge. Her heart raced and felt like an invisible hand gripped it tightly.

She held her hand over her numbed heart and cautiously pushed open the study’s door. As she did, aneerie feeling, like something from a nightmare, rushed toward her.

She gnashed her teeth and gazed at the man in the leather chair. His eyes were as deep and blue as asnake’s, locked onto her. It was as if the snake’s venomous fangs might strike at her any moment, piercing her throat.

At the sight of Steffan, Xara felt a surge of fear. She held her trembling self together, her nails digginginto her palms to keep from fleeing in panic.

“Xara, it’s been a long time.”
