Anna was stunned. “What?! How could you possibly have been seen when you put on such aconvincing disguise?”
Esther’s movements faltered for a moment as she tried to recall everything that had
transpired before she said, “Maybe someone found out who I really am when I exposed myself to thechurch and told Bradley about it. After all, nobody would resist the temptation of being paid.”
The people paid to pass on information to Bradley wouldn’t care about Esther’s safety or what she hadgone through. Their sole concern was the money deposited into their bank accounts.
“What could you possibly have done to deserve to be haunted by a man like him?” Anna wondered.
Initially, Anna thought Bradley was an attractive and mature man, someone any woman could spendtheir life with. Now, she realized he was a heartless monster.
Esther’s voice was filled with solace and sadness. “If Bradley had any empathy, he would never havedone such heinous things to a woman who bore his children. It’s my fault for being so naive when I wasyoung.’
Anna took a good look at her and consoled, “No, that’s not entirely right. You wouldn’t have such alovely son if not for him, would you?”

“You’ll be a super attractive mother with a son and a daughter once you’ve welcomed Pixie back intoyour arms!” Anna teased. “Think about it. You’ll instantly become the most beautiful and attractive
woman if you walk hand in hand on the streets.”
“I’ve made my decision,” Esther said with determination. “I’m filing for divorce from Bradley.
In the past, Bradley had wanted to divorce her, but now, it was the other way around.
“A divorce?” Anna anxiously asked. “What about Pixie? What’s going to happen to her if you go backthere to sue him?”
“I’m not going back. I’ll leave everything to do with the divorce to a lawyer,” Esther replied.
Esther had never wanted to get a divorce from Bradley because she did not want her children to knowthe ugly side of their parents’ relationship.
But now, that was no longer a problem. All of her patience shown to Bradley had become a joke whenBradley used Pixie to threaten her.
“Do it. You’ve got my support,” Anna said, extremely supportive of Esther. “We no longer live in the olddays when divorcees would get criticized and scorned. It’s high time we women had the courage to sayno to an awful marriage!”
Esther nodded. “I’ll go make the calls.”
After wiping the oil from her hands, Esther found a quiet place to make a phone call. “Jasper, I’vedecided to divorce Bradley. Could you introduce me to a good lawyer?”
