Chapter 38

The biker was still angry and stated an amount that even he found ridiculous without thinking twice.”$150,000.”

Cole did not expose him and wired the sum to him through his phone directly, adding a note that thiswas the fee for the motorcycle while he did.

“This is my business card. If it’s not a problem, give me your number too, and I’ll have someone contactyou for the ownership transfer.”

The motorcycle was not even worth $150,000, but desperate times called for desperate measures.

Cole generously paid and saved the biker’s number before bidding him goodbye nicely, leaving thelatter to stare, at the new amount in his bank account. It felt like a dream.

“Zack, how much longer?”

Zack glanced at the navigation system and answered, “It’s probably another 20 minutes.’

“I’ll go get a shared electric bike and head to the hospital first.” Cole got a bike by the roadside androde it to the hospital as fast as possible.

Just as he parked the bike outside the hospital gate, his phone rang.

“Hello, Mr. Johnston? It’s me. The DNA paternity test results that you entrusted me with yesterday areout. Come to me to collect the results when you’re free.”

Cole replied swiftly, “Sure. I have something urgent to attend to right now. I’ll go to you later.”

He then rushed to Felix’s hospital ward. The hallway outside the room was crowded with medical staff.Bradley’s furious figure was particularly eye-catching among them.

“Esther Quill! If you don’t open the door by the time I count to three, I’ll…”

Bradley’s eyes gleamed coldly as he looked extremely fierce.

Liliane burst into tears but grabbed Bradley’s arm tightly to plead hypocritically, “Brad, please don’tprovoke her anymore.”

Bradley coldly replied, “Liliane, crying won’t solve anything.

“But Felix’s inside. Brad, give me some time to convince her. If it doesn’t work…” Liliane’s eyes.flickered slightly as she said with a vicious thought, “Then I’ll leave it to you, okay?”

Bradley’s expression turned cold, and he said, “Five minutes.”

“Okay.” Liliane walked to the door and knocked it lightly with two knuckles.

She spoke softly after three knocks. “Esther, you wanted to see me, right? I’m here! Open the doornovelbin

and let me in.”

Esther had a sinking feeling in her heart and a strong sense of hatred in her deep gaze once sheheard. Liliane’s voice from where she was inside. She turned to the side and looked at the unconsciousFelix, saying in a low voice, “I’m sorry, Felix. Please forgive me for using you as a bargaining chip. I… Ihad no choice.”

Liliane was too good at disguising herself. Everyone, including Bradley, did not believe Esther’s words.Esther was the only one in this world who knew that the person who had removed Thomas’ oxygenmask back then was Liliane, not her.

Esther knew that Liliane was a very cautious person. She had not planned to use her phone to recordanything from the beginning. Instead, she stuffed a pen recorder that was already recording under

Felix’s pillow.

“Liliane, I’ve turned on the oxygen in the room. If you barge in, I’ll light up a fire directly and die with

Felix.”

Liliane stood before the door and said hoarsely, “Esther, I… I’ll come in alone. Don’t hurt Felix.”

Bradley was furious upon hearing Esther’s threat. He wanted nothing more than to barge into thehospital ward and rip Esther to shreds. Five minutes? He did not even want to wait a minute longer

right now.

“Esther Quill!” Bradley slammed on the door and said violently, “I’m counting to three. I’ll make sureyour daughter doesn’t rest in peace if you don’t open the door!”
