Chapter 215novelbin

Leah believed that Shane would never refuse to accompany Liliane into the venue. After all, theyshared a special bond as father and daughter. Daughters were often considered their fathers’ belovedcompanions from a previous life, so it was natural for Shane to be fond of

Liliane.

“It would be a great honor for him to walk our Liliane down the aisle. I’m sure he’ll be more than willing,”Leah remarked confidently.

As soon as she finished speaking, Shane appeared at the door. Leah went to open it, and they warmlyembraced each other.

“Shane, we were just discussing you with Liliane. You know, Billy is always so unreliable. It’s ourdaughter’s big day, yet he’s being irresponsible at this crucial moment. If he can’t make it, can youplease accompany Liliane to the wedding?” Leah expressed her disappointment with Billy, and with hervague words, Shane readily agreed.

“I’m glad you thought of me,” Shane replied. He looked at Liliane, dressed elegantly, and couldn’t helpbut get teary-eyed. His daughter had grown up and was about to get married. However, as a father, hehad never fulfilled his responsibilities, to the extent that his daughter didn’t even share his last name.He felt an indescribable sense of guilt.

He held an envelope and walked up to Liliane with great seriousness. “Liliane, may you have a happywedding.”

Liliane glanced at Leah, unsure if she should accept the envelope.

Leah took it from Shane’s hand and smiled and handed it to Liliane. “Liliane, just accept it. It’s a tokenof affection from Uncle Shane.”

“Thank you, Uncle Shane.” Liliane felt the envelope and realized that it didn’t contain cash-it wasprobably a bank card.

Leah suddenly had an idea and suggested, “How about we stop calling him Uncle Shane and call himGodfather instead?”

Shane was taken aback.

Leah continued. “Just in case someone asks, it’ll be easier to explain, right?”

Liliane looked at Shane, who was dressed formally in a perfectly tailored suit, a stark contrast to herfather’s greedy appearance. Shane wore gold-rimmed glasses, exuding a sense of culture, reserve, and refinement.

It felt fitting for him to be her godfather. Moreover, if it weren’t for him secretly helping them in the past, she and her mother wouldn’t have been able to successfully take Felix out of the prison hospital.

Liliane agreed. Her affectionate address to Shane brought tears to his eyes, and he choked out, “Goodgirl.”

Leah was concerned that Shane’s emotional state might raise suspicions in Liliane, especiallyconsidering her fragile heart condition and inability to handle shocking news. It would be better to waituntil after Liliane’s surgery to reveal her true background.

“Liliane, go change into your wedding gown. Your godfather and I will go greet our relatives andfriends.”

“Okay.”

Leah and the seemingly composed Shane left the bride’s dressing room together. They reached anempty stairwell, and Leah asked with affectionate eyes, “Are you happy?”
