Chapter 162

“How much is it?” Shane asked.

“I heard it’s in the millions, but I couldn’t find out the exact amount. But it seems like he’s in a desperatesituation!” replied the lackey.novelbin

“Keep an eye on him,” Shane instructed.

The lackey whined, “Mr. Hoyer, can you replace me? I really don’t want to play cards anymore!”

“It’s not like I’m asking you to commit murder or arson…”

“No, Mr. Hoyer, they’re playing for high stakes, and I don’t have that kind of money. You know about myfamily situation…”

Without a word, Shane transferred a large sum of money to the lackey.

Hearing the sound of the money transfer on his phone, the lackey happily responded, “Thank you, Mr.Hoyer.”

After hanging up, the lackey counted the zeros. Shane had directly transferred $15,000 to him. A prisondirector was giving away $15,000 just like that!

Damn, did the wind blow this money in?

Either he had done a lot of evil deeds, or the person he was asked to track was quite formidable. Thatwas why he was willing to spend a lot of money on it!

Regardless of which it was, the lackey felt extremely lucky. He must keep enough evidence to protecthimself. In case something happened one day, he could defend himself.

After learning about Clark’s situation, Shane immediately called Leah.

“It’s me. How’s Liliane?” Shane asked.

Leah stood on the balcony, observing Billy and Liliane having breakfast together, and whispered,“Wilson said she shouldn’t be stressed. How are things on your side?”

“My lackey said that the Warner butler is gambling and owes a large sum. You don’t need to worryanymore,” Shane confidently said. “In this world, anything that can be solved with money is not aproblem.

Shane contemplated taking action if money couldn’t solve the problem. With his network of indebtedindividuals, he knew someone would always be willing to help for the right reward. novelxo.com fastupdate

Leah expressed her disbelief. “Clark gambling? He doesn’t strike me as the type.”

“At first, gambling addicts never do, but they eventually lose everything,” Shane reminded her. “Justfocus on taking care of Liliane, and leave the rest to me. I won’t let anyone bully you two.”

Leah anxiously brought up the heart transplant. She preferred her daughter to have Esther’s heart andlive a healthy life without constant fear.

“I’m analyzing the data,” Shane reiterated. “The previous data is only a temporary reference. We needto reevaluate its suitability. Once I have the results, I’ll inform you.”

Leah thanked him and ended the call. She walked over to Liliane and lovingly said, “Liliane, UncleShane asked about you when we met yesterday.”

Hearing this, Billy raised his gaze and looked at Leah, questioning, “Uncle Shane?”

“Dr. Birch’s old classmate,” Leah explained lightly. She couldn’t let Billy know Liliane’s true identity untilshe inherited the Anstey assets.

“He’s helping us find a heart for Liliane.”

Billy trusted her without suspicion and suggested, “Honey, let’s invite him for a meal to show ourgratitude.

“Do you feel like eating now?” Leah couldn’t help but compare Shane to Billy. Both were fathers, butthe difference was striking.

Shane was proactive in solving their problems, while Billy seemed useless.

If it weren’t for her pregnancy and the Anstey assets, she would never have married such a worthless

person.
