Chapter 139

Chapter 139

Shane stood on the steps, watching Clark walk into the parking lot outside the hospital. After confirmingthat Clark was the butler of the Warners, he quickly stepped into the security room of the prisonhospital.

“Mr. Hoyer,” greeted the security guard.

Shane was friendly and amiable as he casually threw a pack of cigarettes to the security guard in theroom, saying, “Take these cigarettes and enjoy them.”

The security guard received the cigarettes with a smile and looked at the logo on the cigarette box, shocked. “Mr. Hoyer, these are good cigarettes.”

“I don’t smoke, so I can’t appreciate them.”

Upon hearing Shane’s words, the security guard joked, “Mr. Hoyer, these cigarettes are the best of thebest. I’ll try them.”

Without waiting for a response, the security guard opened the cigarette box and took out a stick tobreathe in the scent deeply.

Shane coughed uncomfortably, and the security guard, sensing the atmosphere, said, “I’ll go outside tosmoke.”

Taking advantage of the security guard’s break, Shane deliberately checked the hospital’s surveillancefootage. When his gaze fell on Clark in the records room, he could not help but suck in a deep breath.

Why did the Warners’ butler come here? It could not be just for a casual visit. The only with aconnection to him was Esther. Could he be here to investigate her labor?

Shane furrowed his brows. He took out his phone, intending to tell Leah about this. However, hesuddenly realized that reducing contact during this sensitive period would be more appropriate.novelxo.com fast update

After all, he had just become the director of the prison hospital and had not made enough money yet.He did not want anyone to ruin his good fortune.

When the security guard returned after smoking, his steps were light and bouncy.

Shane reminded, “Do your job well.”

“Yes, Mr. Hoyer.”novelbin

Shane returned to his office. As the director, he had the authority to access all the information in thedatabase regarding Esther’s childbirth. Yet, he couldn’t help but regret not using that authority earlier toreplace her records. If he had done so, even if the Warner family’s butler conducted a personalinvestigation, he would have found nothing incriminating.

However, with the recent update in the prison system, any modifications made to the delivery recordswould leave a trace in the system. Shane couldn’t afford to have any loopholes jeopardizing the hard-earned position he held.

Opening his social media account, he confirmed that Leah was accompanying Liliane at the hospital. Aplan quickly took shape in his mind, prompting him to reach for his phone and call one of hissubordinates.

“I’ll give you a car license plate number. He just left the prison hospital. Keep an eye on him and seewho he meets and what he does. Remember to be discreet and not alert anyone,” he instructed.

Clark leisurely walked to the parking lot outside the hospital, opened the car door, and sat inside. However, he did not start the car right away. Instead, he took out his phone and dialed a number, speaking in a deep voice. “Are you at the detective agency now? I have something to entrust to you.”

“Clark, I’m in the office.”

After leaving the prison hospital, Clark went straight to a game house hidden in a residential building.Although it appeared to be just a game house on the surface, it was a secret detective agency.

“Clark, have a seat.”

A bald, middle-aged man led Clark into his office. Skillfully, he brewed a cup of coffee while Clarkwasted no time and handed him a USB drive.
