Chapter 38 This Woman Was Married?

Rosalie could not help but be slightly startled. After a moment, she looked at Byron with someapprehension. She did not confess about the time Estie had gone missing back then. However, shelikely could not hide from this man. Thinking of this, Rosalie said hesitantly, “It‘s probably because...I‘ve helped her before. I picked her up when she got lost the last time.”

Andrius had not expected this. He looked at Estie, then at Rosalie. He lamented, “You two sure aredestined.”

Were they?

Thinking of Estie‘s identity, Rosalie’s lower lip tugged with self–mockery before she looked up with acalm expression again. “Perhaps.” Andrius did not notice the abnormality from her either as he got upand suggested, “Since my grandpa needs another hour, why don‘t we wait downstairs and have somedrinks? You‘ve worked hard, Dr. Jacobs.” novelbin

Seeing that he changed the topic, Rosalie was inexplicably relieved and agreed noncommittally.

Answering through action, Byron immediately rounded the back of the sickbed and left. He was aboutto pick up Estie but noticed that the little girl had no intention of looking for him. Estie had stayed byRosalie’s side the entire time after she handed her the handkerchief. When she heard that they weregoing downstairs, she reached out without thinking, wanting to hold the hand of the beautiful lady.

The pretty lady had held her hand just like this the last time they met.

Just when their hands were about to touch, the ringing of a mobile phone sounded in the room. Rosalieturned around and shuffled through her bag for her mobile phone while the fingertips that were about totouch Estie‘s hand slipped away. Estie had finally summoned her courage to reach her hand out only to

be met with emptiness. She blinked somewhat belatedly as an expression of loss appeared on her faceslowly. Gaze falling, she played with her fingers.

This scene was caught by Byron‘s gaze. He saw their hands miss each other, and his eyes dimmedslightly. Rosalie grabbed her mobile phone and looked at the caller ID. It was a call from Mary.

She had left the two little ones with her best friend tonight because she needed to come to the Quirkehousehold for an appointment.

Seeing her call, Rosalie thought that something had happened to them and hurriedly answered thecall.

She accidentally toggled the hands–free button with her fingertips when she slid her finger across thescreen. Not noticing this, Rosalie greeted with a hello. The next second, she heard two soft and cutevoices ringing through the air. “Mommy, when will you come back?” Startled, Rosalie quickly coveredthe loudspeaker and turned off the hands–free.

The little ones‘ voices disappeared. Nevertheless, Rosalie still felt her heart beating violently, and herentire being was uneasy. She subconsciously looked at Byron through the corners of her eyes. Her firstreaction was to fear that Byron had learned of the two‘s existence. Byron‘s expression was instead asblack as the bottom of the pot, and his gaze was even colder. He had clearly heard the voices from thecall just now. It was a little boy calling Rosalie ‘Mommy‘. She was already married?? Realizing this, awave of monstrous anger surged from the bottom of his heart. Byron gritted his teeth and forcedhimself to calm down. This was the only way he could curb his impulse to press the woman against thecorner for an interrogation!

Andrius did not notice the hidden anomaly between the two. He just smiled and asked, “Dr. Jacobs, areyou married?” Rosalie was confused but nodded casually.

Seeing this, Andrius smiled and sighed. “I couldn‘t even tell that you already have children.” Rosalieapologized, “I apologize, I‘ll be heading out to take this call.”

With that, she left the room without looking back. She did not look at the expression Byron was wearing
