Chapter 2061

Chapter 2061 Complicated Mystery

Byron was really worried. His wife’s mood swings in the past few days had been erratic. She was soangry that she collapsed, recovered after the collapse, then immediately collapsed again. He wasworried that this repeated cycle would take a toll on her body.

While his wife waited for the news at home, he went to the police station in person to urge progress.

Fortunately, the arrest warrant was officially issued. Four police officers went to the suburban villa andsoon brought Violet back to the police station.

At present, Violet could only be called a suspect. She was ordered to cooperate with the investigation.novelbin

She could only be detained for only 24 hours.

At the police station, there was a lack of fear on Violet’s face. She had a smug sneer when she onlysaw Byron but not Rosalie.

“You can’t place any charges on me without any evidence. It’s pointless no matter how you investigate.”

Violet was so blatantly arrogant that even the police officers were a little irritated. They brought her intothe interrogation room with a stern expression.

Byron was waiting at the door. Detective Carter came out looking solemn, shaking his head slightly.

“According to the detailed affirmative forensic report from the medical officer, Ms. Jacobs’ mother’sillness lasted for three years. In other words, she was forcefully exposed to mercury way before. A yearafter Mrs. Jacobs had her first health symptoms, Violet forced Gordon to divorce Mrs. Jacobs andmarry her. If we speculate from the time of death, that was a full year between the two incidents’”

Byron had a solemn expression following that statement. His brows furrowed as he began to think.

After a few seconds, he asked, “Perhaps Violet targeted my mother-in-law from the very beginning andsecretly poisoned her behind the scenes?”

Detective Carter shook his head and denied it. “Ms. Jacobs mentioned her mother’s normal lifetrajectory yesterday. She was always at home with her husband and child. It was impossible for her tobe wary of any woman. I’ve been wondering whether Gordon conspired with Violet to do this. Onsecond thought, if Gordon was truly guilty, there was probably no reason for him to hide things till hisdeath.

Byron believed that too.

What Gordon did before he died was indeed a gesture of repentance and guilt.

However, the suicide at the end remained elusive. Was he trying to help Violet conceal a secret?

The whole case became a complicated mystery. Where did Violet get the confidence behind herarrogance and fearlessness now?

Could it be that it was truly impossible to find a new breakthrough from the chain of evidence?

Detective Carter suddenly muttered to himself, “We’ll have to get Ms. Jacobs to recall as manymemories as possible. We need to know if her mother behaved abnormally back then.”

Byron nodded. “Alright, Detective Carter. I’ll go back first and talk to my wife more. Don’t overworkyourself. Rest more if you can. Thank you very much for your help!”

“Don’t worry, I’ll see how these brats interrogate her. Maybe I can find something out of it.” With that,Detective Carter waved at Byron and entered the police station again.

Back at the manor, Byron immediately saw his wife fidgeting in the living room.

Rosalie wanted to control her emotions and let her mind relax completely to get a good night’s sleep.

However, she was plagued with the thoughts of her mother’s suffering from being chronically poisonedeven though she kept telling herself not to think about it for the time being.

What peace could there be in her heart?

As her husband entered the door, she hurried forward and asked eagerly, “How is it? Did the police findany clues?”

Byron organized his words in his mind. He truly did not want to see his wife depressed again. Thus, hesmiled knowingly.” Violet has been arrested. She’s being interrogated now.

Detective Carter is a veteran detective with a unique experience. He can break through a criminal’spsychological defense at a critical moment. So, it depends on whether Violet is stubborn enough thistime.”
