Chapter 1709 Can’t Do Anything About It
‘Rosalie? Isn't she with Byron? Why didn’t Byron answer my call? Why is Rosalie calling instead?’
Xander was full of suspicion. The phone rang for a while before he picked it up.
"Awake already, Miss Jacobs?"
On the other end, Rosalie's voice was full of anger.
"Xander, I overestimated you. As the heir to the Lancer family and as a doctor, I never imagined you'duse your medical skills to poison me! Aren't you ashamed of abusing the Lancer family's century-oldlegacy?"
Xander's eyes turned cold from her condemnation. The corners of his lips slowly curled up. "You’re stillable to throw accusations at me. You seem quite energetic!"
Rosalie shot back coldly. "It's all thanks to you!"
Xander narrowed his eyes slightly and sneered. "Since you know that I did it, then you should knowthat your life is still in my hands! You'd better be polite to me!"
Then, he asked in a cold voice, "Where is Byron? Put him on the phone!"
Rosalie refused without hesitation. "He has nothing to say to you! This is between you and me, Xander.Don't even try to use me to threaten him!"
She would never allow herself to be anyone's weakness!
Xander sniggered with indignation at her tough attitude. "How silly. Why do you think you woke up?Byron probably hasn't told you yet, but he agreed to my three conditions. That’s how you got theantidote from me!"
He thought Rosalie was oblivious, so he said arrogantly, "To get you the antidote, Byron has agreed toterminate the cooperation with your research institute, and he’s already married to another woman!"
‘I don't know the authenticity of the marriage certificate yet, but I can still trigger Rosalie with it!’
He thought that Rosalie would be affected by this. He did not expect her to be so calm about it.
"I know all of this, so just give up okay? I'm the person in charge of the research institute. Even if theresearch institute terminates our cooperation with Lawrence Corporation, I’ll never work with you."
Rosalie planned to keep Byron’s fake marriage a secret first.
Xander was furious. "Do you have a death wish? Rosalie, do you think that what Byron got yesterday isthe complete antidote?"
Rosalie’s tone was firm. "Of course, I know the truth of the matter, but I’ll develop the antidote with myability. I’m in charge of my own life!"
Xander was silent for a few seconds. Then, he burst out laughing wildly as if he heard some joke.novelbin
"Develop the antidote? You should stop dreaming! Do you think the Lancer family's ancestral secrettechnique is child’s play? Even Quentin Luke can't do anything about it, not to mention you!"
Rosalie's face darkened when Xander belittled her teacher. "I'm Professor Luke’s disciple. If I canunravel your poison formula, my teacher won’t have a problem either. I didn’t tell him only because Idon't want him to worry. You’d better show some respect!"
Xander snorted coldly. "Since you’re so confident, then give it a try. If you don't get the second vial ofantidote before tonight, the poison will kill you. Don't come crying to me then!"
With that, he hung up the phone without giving Rosalie a chance to respond.
He refused to believe her. Apart from him, no one else in the world would be able to figure out theformula for his poison!
