Xander got up and reached out to shake her hand politely. He then complimented her. "Miss Lincoln,you’re so beautiful. You make a good match with President Lawrence. Even your family backgroundsare similar—what a match made in heaven! I probably wouldn't be invited to your wedding! Let mecongratulate you both first!"
Then, he looked at Byron sarcastically. "President Lawrence, you have such a great candidate by yourside, why are you so obsessed with Miss Jacobs? There wouldn’t be so many problems if you choseMiss Lincoln earlier!"
Byron looked at him with apathy. "I already brought her here. Where’s the item you promised me?"
Xander sneered. "Why rush? What I want to see isn’t a person."
Their stares collided, and there was ruthlessness in their eyes.
Byron took out the marriage certificate casually while Xander reached out to get it.
As if he did not see him, Byron went past him and placed the marriage certificate on the coffee table.
Xander's face sank when his outstretched hand fell on nothing. However, when he saw Chloe besideByron, he felt instantly better again. His face revealed a bit of joy.
‘No matter the superiority Byron put on now, he had already lost!’
Xander smiled, turned around indifferently, went to the coffee table, and picked up the marriagecertificate to check.
Pride surged within him when he saw the photo and official seal on the marriage certificate.
"Tsk, look at how well these photos are! President Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence are both sophotogenic!"
Then, he shook his head regretfully. "However, this is a marriage certificate. President Lawrence andthe Missus, why didn’t you smile? If an outsider sees this, they will think that you both are forced to bemarried!"
Byron and Chloe’s faces both changed at the mention of the title ‘Mrs. Lawrence’.
Chloe turned and took a look at Byron, thinking that he would say something.
Unexpectedly, Byron had already suppressed his emotions. There was nothing on his face. He justfixated his eyes on Xander. "Mr. Lancer, isn’t this marriage certificate what you wanted? How isanything else important? No one else will see this thing except us."
No matter how Xander tried to provoke him, Byron did not reciprocate. He just felt a little bored andreturned the marriage certificate to Chloe.
Chloe took it and put it away.
"Mr. Lancer, you’ve got what you wanted. Now, it's time to give me what I want." Byron said plainly.
Xander turned back unhurriedly, opened a drawer, and took out a small glass bottle from it.
The body of the bottle was transparent. The liquid inside was also colorless and transparent, like askincare serum for women.
"Here."
Xander handed the bottle to Byron and was about to show off his medical skills again, but the bottlewas snatched from his hand.
Byron frowned as he looked at the bottle in his hand solemnly.
He did not know much about medicine, so he could not tell whether the thing in his hand was thealleged antidote.
"Since you’ve done as promised, I am not a villain who does not keep his word. President Lawrence,rest assured that this is Miss Jacobs’ antidote. She will wake up soon as long as she drinks it.”
There was a brief moment of displeasure in Xander's heart, but he quickly suppressed it.
"Miss Jacobs is my favorite partner too. There’s no need for me to harm her."
Byron gave him a deep stare but did not respond. Then, he turned and left with Chloe.
