When Melanie saw Neil in the wheelchair, her heart broke. She pushed Silvia away and walked

“Why are you still defending her in your condition?”

Neil frowned. “My accident has nothing to do with her.”

Melanie sneered. “If you hadn’t gone to the court to submit those divorce papers, would you havegotten involved in a car accident?”

“Nob*dy could have expected that.”

“Enough. I don’t want to hear it anymore. I’ll pack your luggage for you. From today onward, you’removing back home.”

Neil’s expression turned cold. “I’m not going home.”

“I won’t let you stay with this woman anymore!”

“The woman you’re talking about is my wife, and she has a name. Even if you don’t like her, you needto respect her!”

Melanie’s eyes were full of disbelief. She had just been abroad for a while and did not keep in contactwith Neil during that time, so imagine her surprise when she came back to him having his attitude.

changing completely toward Silvia.

“Neil, Silvia Pond will only hurt you. Come back with me right now. I’ll handle the divorce for you!”

He glared at her, and his voice was filled with anger. “This is between me and my wife. I hope you won’tinterfere.”

Melanie’s face turned red with rage, and she raised her voice. “Neil Remus, are you trying to piss meoff? Do you realize that I almost had a heart attack when I heard about your injuries? But now, you’relosing your temper with me because of the person who sent you to your doom?”

Neil appeared even more dissatisfied. “How did you learn about my accident?”

He had given clear orders to not inform Melanie and Jake about his accident. They would only know ifthey came back and visited Abalene.

Melanie’s eyes shone with guilt, and she avoided eye contact.

She would sometimes be scared of her son too.

“Where I heard about it is not important. The point is, I won’t let you and Silvia be together no matter

what!”

Neil meant the world to her. She would rather die than have anything happen to him.

“I’m not going with you. I’ll get Mr. Sayer to send you back to the mansion later.”

“Neil Remus!”

Melanie was fuming. She glared at him and asked, “You’re just trying to make me mad, aren’t you?”

He turned to Silvia and refused to look at her anymore. “I’d like to take a bath. Help me.”

Silvia did not want to face Melanie alone either. She accepted the slap because Neil’s accident wasindeed related to her.

Even so, if Melanie slapped her a second time, she would not sit back and take it.

As she approached Neil to push his wheelchair, Melanie instantly shoved her aside.

“Go away! Don’t ever go near him again!”

Silvia did not get angry. She smiled and said, “Sure. I have work tomorrow, so I’ll let you take care ofhim, Mrs. Remus.”

After she left the living room, Melanie attempted to push Neil’s wheelchair. However, he pressed abutton on the wheelchair and turned before he looked his mother in the eyes.

Neil was in a lower position than Melanie, but he emitted an extremely imposing aura.

“Mom,

I’m telling you that I won’t divorce Silvia. Just drop the idea!”

Melanie gritted her teeth and snapped. “What’s so great about her? You were forced to marry her backthen! Ada’s back now. You should part ways with Silvia as soon as possible and marry Ada!”

Ada had grown up before Melanie’s eyes, so she would much rather have Ada as her daughter–in–law.

Meanwhile, Silvia was a village girl from the countryside. She only ended up with Neil for three yearsthrough sheer luck!

“I won’t marry Ada. If you like her that much, you can take her in as a goddaughter. Don’t pair me upwith her.“”

Melanie looked at him in disbelief. “Didn’t you like her in the past? Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for

Silvia?!”

Neil frowned. “It doesn’t have anything to do with whether I love her or not.”

“If you don’t love her, why are you against a divorce? Her relationship with the Pond Family is terrible. Ifyou marry Ada, you’ll have the Pond Family’s support. But if you stay with Silvia, you won’t get a thing!”

“I don’t need a wornan to advance my career!” His eyes shone with contempt.

Melanie realized that he could not be convinced in the slightest, and her chest began to hurt from herintense anger.
