Chapter 2016

Chapter 2016Jaylene was left without words after Darcie confronted her.

Darcie's face lost color as she sighed. "Jaylene, you've always been such a good listener and excelled at everything since youwere a child. | worked hard to raise you to be someone independent, not just someone's wife.

“Even though Keegan did develop feelings for you, think about it. If he could leave Stella for you, what's stopping him fromleaving you for someone else?"

Darcie clenched her teeth and added, "You have Saun as your last name, but you're not tied by blood to this family. No matterhow much your dad and brother love you, their blood ties will always be stronger. You can't rely on the Saun family forever.

"You've got to become strong on your own. When you become a big deal in Caline, no one will dare to underestimate you.

" Don't get worked up every time | mention Stella. She's back with the Saun family, living a good life with Keegan. But noticesomething? She hasn't slowed down at all, managing The Velvet and her acting career. She's keeping up the pace.

“Even though her life wasn't as good as yours in the beginning, she's on track to surpass you if you don't step up. Once shemakes her mark in Caline, you might find yourself in her shadow forever."

Jaylene stayed quiet, her eyes getting red.

Darcie gave her a cup of water and went on, "The fact that Keegan is willing to see you less just because of something | saidtells a lot. It shows you're not that important to him.

"This might not necessarily be a bad thing. You should start joining the company officially after a few days. I'll have Aubrey guideyou by then."novelbin

Jaylene lowered her gaze and nodded, seemingly taking in Darcie's harsh advice.Darcie patted her shoulder and stopped speaking. She believed that

Jaylene was already an adult and should know the right thing to do.

Jaylene's grip on the glass gradually tightened.

She knew that although Darcie claimed that she feared that Stella would take away Caline, deep down, she knew that Darciewas just afraid that Wenham would blame her if she got together with Keegan.

After Stella's return, Darcie had been accommodating her in every way possible. Everytime there was a conflict between Jayleneand Stella, Darcie would never be on her side.

Darcie's sole concern was ensuring Wenham’s approval of Jaylene, leading her to neglect Jaylene's feelings.Just as Jaylene was deciding whether to follow what Darcie said, her phone rang.

It was a text from Keegan. [I guess this is it. Darcie doesn't like me, and | don't want your relationship with her to be affected byme. | should've treated you like my little sister, and what | did last night was inappropriate. I'm sorry.]

His message was too suggestive, and Jaylene instantly replied without thinking. [But | don't want to be your little sister.]

However, Keegan did not reply after she hit send.

Jaylene gripped her phone, feeling uneasy.

"| don't want to be your little sister; | want to be your girlfriend!" Stella suddenly got into character as she looked at Keegan withsparkling eyes." Do | sound like Jolin Harder?"

Keegan looked at her, confused. "John who?" "Tsk," Stella clicked her tongue. "You're so outdated. Please don’t talk to me.”However, Aldor praised. "Yeah, you do, especially the way that your voice is going to crack. It's exactly the same."

Knowing that someone would back him up, Aldor was fearless when he met this boss's intimidating gaze.

Stella smiled. "Fantastic! I'll ask Keegan to... treat you to a meal!"

Aldor was taken aback. ‘Mrs. Kane is getting stingier now. My life is so difficult.’

Keegan and Aldor were really into their work, and Stella couldn't sit still after watching two online seminars on her phone.

She paced around the room, stretching now and then. Staying in one spot for more than a few seconds just wasn't her thing.
