Felicity paused and immediately exclaimed, "Mr. Moore, you're here.”
Stella tossed a bitten apple to Vermont, laid back on the bed, and instantly assumed a weak appearance.Vermont was speechless. ‘What an actress,’ he thought.
He casually placed the apple back in the fruit tray, stood up, and said, "Marshall, you haven't left yet.”
Marshall walked in and frowned at the sight of Stella looking sickly in bed. "I'm here to visit Stella. Why didn't you guys take herto the hospital?"
“Lena insisted that it wasn't a big deal. She just asked us to keep an eye on her," Vermont replied.Marshall stayed silent. He approached the bedside and asked, "How are you holding up, Stella? Let's take you to the hospital."
Stella shook her head. Mr. Moore, I'm fine. Lena said it was just a superficial injury. She told me to rest at home and keep thewound dry. If you're that worried, I'll get it checked tomorrow." She paused, trying to make her lie more convincing. Then, sheadded, "Plus, Keegan's due for a hospital visit tomorrow, so I'll tag along. It's late now."
Marshall furrowed his brows. He looked at the bandaged wounds on her head and legs and asked, "You sure you'reokay?""You don't trust Lena?" Stella joked.
Marshall pursed his lips. With a concerned look on his face, he said, "I just can't figure out why Ms. Crosby would pull a stunt likethat. Why would she hurt you and Aurora?"novelbin
‘That's because—"
Felicity was all fired up and ready to speak when Vermont grabbed her butt.
While blushing, she kicked Vermont's ass and said, "You sneak! How dare you take advantage of me!"
Vermont casually dusted off his pants and said, "| don't think | need to be sneaky to take advantage of you."
Felicity was ready to retaliate, but Vermont hid behind Marshall and evaded her.
Vexed by their antics, Marshall grabbed Felicity and inquired, "Ms. Thompson, what were you about to say earlier?"Felicity felt puzzled and asked, "What?"
"Nevermind," said Marshall.
"Stop hiding and face me, you sneak!" Felicity pressed on Marshall's shoulder, as she attempted to jump over and catchVermont.
Seeing this, Vermont quickly lifted her and pulled her down.
"You hooligan, why are you jumping into Marshall's arms?"
Felicity pulled his ear and said, "Where did you grab me earlier?"
Vermont hesitated for a moment. He then patted her butt and asked in a low voice, "Does your tailbone still hurt?"Felicity's expression changed, and she bit him on the shoulder.
Stella smiled and looked at Marshall. "Mr. Moore, it's getting late. You should head back."
For a while, Marshall was silent. He took out a talisman from his pocket, handed it to her, and said, "I got this for you back whenwe visited the wishing well. They said it's effective for protection."
Before Stella could respond, Keegan chimed in and said," What wishing well?"
