Stella glanced at the bedroom door and whispered to Vermont, "Exercise more and make sure to eat
more folic acid. Soon, your wish will come true."
Vermont was puzzled.
Then, he handed the fork on the table to Stella and thoughtfully pushed the fruit plate closer to her,
humbly seeking her advice.
"Exercise for what? I wanted to know when I can finally meet miss bandit's parent."
Stella speared a piece of apple with the fork. "And I am telling you how you can do that as soon as
possible."
Vermont paused before he suddenly said, "Are you suggesting that I should jump the gun so she'll
have no choice but to marry me?"
'Folic acid is for boosting fertility, isn't it?’ Vermont wondered to himself.
After a moment of silence, Stella said, "You can think of it that way if you want."
She figured that she could not possibly tell Vermont that his mother-in-law was worried that he was
incapable of having children, so she wanted to test him before meeting him. It would be too hurtful.
Vermont's gaze toward Stella instantly changed. "Felicity treats you as her best friend. How could you
come up with such a horrible idea?"
"Aren’t you trying very hard to get her mother's approval? This is the quickest way possible. With a
child, her mother will have no choice but to ask Felicity to marry you."
Vermont's expression darkened. "You're her best friend, yet you're encouraging me to do this. Aren't
you afraid that I'll dump her after doing it? Let me get this straight: I do want to marry her, but never
with such despicable means."
He glared at her when he snatched the fork from her hand. He said, "You'd better stop eating!"
Stella was speechless.
She was about to explain herself, but Felicity came out with a pot of soup and saw what was
happening. "Stinky Cucumber! Why are you scolding Stella?" she yelled.
Vermont did not want Felicity to know that he was asking for Stella's help to probe her. Also, he was
very angry that she treated Stella wholeheartedly, yet Stella came up with such an idea to betray her
trust.
Stella quickly said, "It's nothing. Mr. Snyder is just reminding me that fruits have a high sugar content.
But I didn't listen to him, so he took my fork away."
Felicity looked at Vermont suspiciously and asked, "Is that true?"
Vermont, who would always keep calm in all kinds of situations, unexpectedly lost his temper. He
turned around and went back into his room without saying anything.
Felicity was puzzled. She asked, "Stinky Cucumber, what do you think you're doing?"
Stella grabbed her and said, "Felicity, it was just a joke. It's all good."
Although Vermont just scolded her, Stella was not upset at all. In fact, she was very happy that he
stood up for Felicity because the idea she came up with could hurt Felicity's feelings.
While it was true that he had lied to Felicity before, he had his principles and knew not to step over the
line. He had never mistreated Felicity throughout their relationship.
Felicity said, "He rarely acts like this and would never get angry for no reason. This is strange."
Stella said softly, "Felicity, about... your mom wanting you two to have a baby before getting married,
do you think you should tell Mr. Snyder about it?"
Felicity paused, and her face immediately turned flushing red. "H-How can I bring that up to him? It's sonovelbin
embarrassing," she stammered.
"Why weren't you embarrassed when you kept asking Dr. Corbin to help you check for breast
nodules?"
"That's different! I was just saying that for fun, but this is what I have to physically do! Besides, if we fail
to have a baby, what should I do? Do I just tell him directly, Tm sorry, we can't get married.'?"
