Chapter 2020

Chapter 2020

Stella's eyes widened in surprise. "I can't believe your family has such a secret. Please, tell me more."

Keegan had kept this secret for so many years, so Stella figured that probably only a handful of people

knew about it. Otherwise, she would have heard Olivia gossiping about it long ago.

Keegan kept stuttering as he explained it and it took a long time for Stella to finally understand what

happened.

Keegan himself was not clear about the exact details of their past, but at his father's funeral, he saw

Chandler and Dahlia hugging each other.

However, once he started having suspicions, he could not help but pay extra attention to them. After all,

there were no secrets that could not be exposed.

The Crosby family was quite well-off back in Rivera. Dahlia and her brother, Blake, were prominent

figures in Rivera's social circles. The Crosby siblings were exceptionally good-looking and caught the

attention of many.

The Crosby family doted on the siblings, but the excessive affection backfired on them.novelbin

Blake developed a gambling addiction at a young age, and the Crosby family nearly went bankrupt

before Dahlia got married. After Dahlia's marriage, she often had to send Blake money.

Quentin despised gamblers, so Dahlia dared not tell him about it.

Whenever Blake got detained after losing all his money, she would call Chandler to bail him out.

Keegan did not know anything about this until one day, Blake got drunk and said to him, "Sigh. My

sister has made the wrong bet. She thought she could have everything after marrying your father, but

not only that your father didn't appreciate her, but he also died at such a young age.

"Can you imagine how much better her life would be if she married your uncle instead? She could still

be Mrs. Kane after your father dies and nobody would dare to disrespect me."

Keegan, who was just a teenager, felt a chill run down his spine. After that incident, he distanced

himself from Chandler and told Aurora to also stay away from him.

However, at that time, Aurora lived with Dahlia and trusted her more. So, she never took Keegan's

warnings seriously. To her, Chandler's affection for her was purely because he was her uncle.

Therefore, whenever she got into trouble, she would always hide at Chandler's house.

Although Dahlia maintained a distance from Chandler in public, whenever she faced a problem, she

would immediately seek Chandler's help, which Keegan did not like.

But with Cyrene and Cordelia nearby, they couldn't risk going too far.

If this scandal got out, it would shame everyone. Cordelia would surely be furious. So, it was better to

pretend they didn't know.

The last time Blake's company faced problems, Dahlia had asked Chandler for help. Keegan had

warned her not to do it again. He didn't anticipate Dahlia turning to Chandler once more after getting

herself arrested.

The incident had already gotten a lot of attention. If Chandler were to bail Dahlia out at this time,

everyone would immediately know about it. The Kane family might become a laughingstock to

everyone, but Keegan was more worried that Cordelia would be so angry and get her health affected.

Stella kept quiet upon hearing what Keegan told her.

'No wonder Keegan always treated Chandler so coldly. I used to think it was because of work, but I

didn't expect there to be such a hidden backstory.

'Dahlia is really something. Chandler doesn't seem like a foolish person, but how did she manage to

charm him for decades?

'They both have children now, why would he still be so devoted to her?' Stella wondered.

She believed that Dahlia probably had something Chandler craved to keep him by her side, causing

him to grow so attached to her.

'Could it be that they...'

She had a suspicion and she really wanted to ask Keegan about it. But when she saw the empty look

on Keegan's face, she could not bring herself to ask him, so she gave up the idea.

She changed the subject and said, "Keegan, Murder for Motives is hitting a one billion box office soon.

I'm going to be a billion-dollar actress."

Keegan was surprised and chuckled. "That's impressive."

Stella said, "You're so different now. If I had said the same thing to you before, you would have said

something like, 'Just one billion, what's there to be proud of? You're not even the lead actress. What's

there to boast about?”
