Chapter 1694

“Keegan, if you’ve got a bone to pick, just lay it out straight. There’s no need for these cryptic jabs. Ifyou’re wondering where Stella was when you went missing, I can fill you in,” Marshall’s voice cutthrough the tension.

“You got shoved into the river, and she jumped right in after you without hesitation. You were missing, and she wasn’t doing any better either. She had a high fever for three consecutive days and wascovered in frostbite!

“You were nowhere to be found, and she did not know what to do. She even turned to divineintervention, scaling a steep mountain just to carve your name on a stone, believing it would bring youback safely!” Marshall continued.

“Enough…” Stella’s voice wavered as she spoke softly.

Marshall’s expression stayed stern, but his tone grew more emotional, “The path to the summit is onlyabout 12 inches wide. One wrong step, and she could’ve died! You refused to come out of hiding forthe sake of luring out the person behind your kidnapping. And now you’re asking where she was duringyour disappearance? You should be grateful she’s alive! How dare you blame her?!”

Seeing things unfold, Dahlia realized that Keegan genuinely did not remember Stella. Not just that, buthe probably did not recall many other things, like when he kicked her out of the Kane residence andwhen she drugged Stella, causing her infertility.

As soon as Marshall finished speaking, Dahlia spoke up,” Well, aren’t you Mr.

Know-It-All? I’ve never heard nor seen anything you said. All I know is that she was eager to getinvolved with you after Keegan went missing. You two went parachuting and skiing and even attendeda concert together. Why would she do that with another man if she truly cared about Keegan?”

“Shut your filthy mouth, Dahlia!” Trevor sternly interjected.” You tried to reduce the manpower in thesearch and rescue team two weeks after Keegan’s accident. If we hadn’t continued sending morepeople out there to look for him, I’m sure you would’ve arranged his funeral by now.”

Wenham’s demeanor became serious. This was the first time he did not step in as Trevor challengedan elder. It was clear that Dahlia had pushed him to his limits.

Dahlia’s expression changed when she heard that. Fearing that Keegan would hold a grudge againsther, she hastily said, “The rescue team suggested reducing manpower, emphasizing that the optimalrescue time had passed.

They said that he would likely be dead even if we found him. I was simply following their advice. Do anyof you know the pain I felt from having to think about my own son’s funeral?”

Tears welled in her eyes as she said, “I would never give up on you, Keegan. I was losing sleepthinking about you. I thank God for hearing my prayers. Thank goodness you’re safe. Otherwise, howwould Aurora and I go on without you.”

Upon hearing that, Felicity could not hold herself back. She bit the hand that was covering her mouthand said, “Stop with the nonsense, you crazy old hag!

How dare you try to shift the blame onto others! You were in a rush to declare Keegan dead and claimhis inheritance two weeks into his disappearance. If Keegan hadn’t written Stella down as his primaryheir, he would have come back to nothing! How dare -Mm-“

Before she could finish her words, Vermont covered her mouth again.

Dahlia looked suspicious and angrily scolded, “You despicable woman! You’re the one who’s spoutingnonsense! n “Fu- Off- You- Mm-“

Vermont smiled apologetically and said, “She’s had a bit too much to drink. All of you may continue.”

Felicity squirmed in his arms and almost slipped. That was when he decided to lift her and carry her outof the room.

Keegan remained unfazed, seemingly unbothered by Felicity’s disrespectful words toward Dahlia.

Having detached herself from her perplexing emotions a while ago, Stella gazed at the man before her.He looked the same, yet his attitude was not. “Keegan, I need to speak with you privately,” she said ina serious voice.novelbin
