Chapter 40: Out of the Smoke

Kaylee's POV

I keep on falling deeper, deeper and deeper into a sea like place. I can’t even move my body even

though I tried to force it but it really doesn’t even budge.

I give up and look at the place and everything was all pitch black and I can't see any light.

I was all alone in a dark place and suddenly my feet ached making me look at it and I was surprised

when my body started to move again.

I immediately look at my feet and froze when I slowly look at it.

(What is happening to me?) I thought while I stare in shock at my feet.

My feet’s color is suddenly turning into black and it's slowly going up to my knees.

(Stop please. Stop... somebody.. help me. Glen Help me) I tried to scream but nothing came out of my

mouth.

I panic and tried to shake it off not wanting it to climb my body and engulf me. I tried to scream again

but no voice came out just the same.

I was shaking my feet repeatedly at the same time scared of what will happen to me. I look at my feet

and still the black color is climbing up and this time it's worsening, it was already on my ankle and its

slowly climbing upwards my legs.

I was wiggling and trying to swim upwards using my hands and feet but it feels like nothing is

happening. I tried reaching my hands upward trying to escape this madness.

It was still futile since even though how hard I swim going up it feels like I'm not getting any closer to

the top.

It feels like this has no end but still I have to try than nothing so I continued but suddenly my feet ached

again and when I look at it I got startled and panic.

(No.... no don't come near me. Stay away. Please someone help me. Help me--) I pleaded as I try

reach up and shout for help like never before since the black color already reached my thighs.

(Anyone, anybody, someone help me) I said as tears started to fall from my eyes. I'm so scared and

terrified.

(Am I going to die here? Will no one really come to save me) I said while I slowly lose hope and stop

myself from swimming and just relax my body and I slowly sink deeper again.

I was about to close my eyes and give up already when suddenly a light appeared above me. It was so

bright I have to cover my eyes for a moment and adjusted to it.

Then I suddenly heard a familiar voice making me open my eyes immediately and try to find where is

the voice coming form.

"Kaylee....Kaylee" the voice is somewhat too familiar making me look around to find it.

(Wait-- where did I heard that voice-)

"Kaylee..... Kaylee....." the same voice again echoed to this place and I then look up and saw that the

voice is coming from it.

I immediately swim trying to reach the light that is calling me.

“I...... I remember that voice. Is.... is it really him, it is he really him. He found me" I mumble while still

trying to reach him.

I tried reaching my hands towards the light as I smile at it. I was trying everything to reach that light. I

used all of my strength to get near it and touch it.

I used all my force in my feet and still ignore the stinging sensations that I feel.

I could still hear the voice but it wasn't clear enough but the only thing that is important for me is that he

is here.

(He's safe and he's here. He had found me--)

I used all of my strength and spoke the words that are stuck in my throat this whole time.

It came as a mumble until I repeat over and over again and it came as a whisper. But I never stop and

use all of my strength and hope that I have in him.

(Please hear me Glen…) I cried while looking at the light.

"Glen... Glen save me" I screamed while trying to reach the light. I screamed while pushing myself to

move forward and touch it.

And when I finally touched the light lighted the whole place and it suddenly started to crumble like there

was an earthquake trying to collapse the place.

I immediately panicked and tried reaching the light until and suddenly a hand grabs my hand and I

relaxed.

Suddenly everything is starting to fade and the crumbling stopped. I closed my eyes trying to relax

myself.

Then I suddenly feel that someone is shaking my body and someone is shouting my name making me

slowly opened my eyes and the first one I saw is a crying figure of a person.

I fix my vision since it was blurry and I can't identify who it is but when I heard him clear I teared up.

"Kaylee.... Kaylee..." he said in sob as he touches my face.

I tried to adjust with the surrounding until my vision cleared and returned back to normal.

I look at the person and smiled at him.

"Glen..." I said while looking at him.

He smiled and pulls me up for a hug while saying me name. Even though my body is exhausted I didn't

care and just hug him back too.

I close my eyes and rested my head on his shoulders.

I opened my eyes and look around. Smoke where everywhere and I couldn't see anything. I was

confused to where we are so I asked Glen.

"Glen... Glen where are we" I asked him while scanning the area where we are.

But he didn't speak for a moment and just stay silent while hugging me.

(Come on and answer me already though maybe he didn't hear me clearly) I thought so I repeated it

again.

"Glen. Hey Glen where are we" I repeated again but still he didn't answer me and just hug me all this

time.

I tried glancing at him but I cant get loss of his hug since it was so tight.

I was about to scold him but then I stopped when I heard him say something.

(You are really the best) I thought while I try to stop myself from crying.

"You're going to kill me if you continue to hug me tightly" I joked making him let go of me.

We both chuckle at each other’s face with still tears I our eyes and relief is all over our face.

"I thought that I would lose" you he mumbles while I hugged him tightly again this time.

(I also thought that I will die here) I thought while sobbing and hiding my face in his chest.

We were in that position for a couple of seconds until I feel that I already have calmed down and I was

happy with him comforting me.

"Glen you don-... Glen where are we" I asked again but he ignored me.

"Your finally okay" he said in a relieved tone while ignoring my question. I teared up again and then

smile at him.

"Hey Glen-" he suddenly he falls down but I was fast to help him so that he didn't fall on the ground.

"GLEN.... GLEN.... WHAT'S WRONG? GLEN" I screamed while I hold him in place.

I immediately look at him and he was on his knees while his hands are on the ground stopping his body

from falling down completely too.

I got confused for a moment and scared as to why his acting like this. I looked at his face and he was

breathing deeply like he can't breathe.

I tried to ask him what is wrong but still he can't answer and then he falls on the ground and scream

that it hurts.

He then immediately used his hand and grips his chest. I panic and tried to talk to him still to

understand the situation but he was still focused on easing the pain.

"Glen what is happening to you" I shouted while trying to hold him in place since he suddenly started to

hit his chest making me making me panic since I think that he is already losing it.

Okay let see maybe his chest hurts I mumble while I grab his hands and stop him from hitting his chest.

"Stop that, GLEN.... Please.... PLEASE HELP US" I scream and look around to ask for help but still no

one came and Im starting to panic even more that I am already.

The pain that I am felling suddenly eased down and I am more worried at Glen since something isnovelbin

happening to him.

Suddenly he screamed again while still gripping his chest. This made me realize that he is really in a

critical condition.

I immediately regained my composure I performed and chanted a healing spell and strengthening spell

to help him.

(Please work... I beg of you work) I used more magic even though I know that it will weaken me.

This is the only thing on my mind is to save and help him relax.

I look around and the smokes are slowly fading and dissipating in the air. I look at him again and he

was all over the place while groaning in pain.

I didn't notice tears were already falling in my eyes as I stare at him.

"Glen.... please anyone" I pleaded while trying to hold him in place.

But one thing that shocked me. His magic was little, so small that it is nearly from the break of

disappearing. That made me realize again something.

I cover my mouth as another batch of tears fall from my eyes again this time. But this time I can't

control the tears that are coming out from my eyes.

"No... No.... This can't happen.... It can't happen... You’re not going to die..... You can't die.." I screamed

while looking at him in fear.

I look around and saw the smokes are already gone and we are at the hallway of the school.

I look at Glen and he is slowly starting to relax. He slowly loosens his grip on his chest making me

smile. His breathing also is returning to normal. And his magic is also starting to return to his self.

I sigh in relief while caressing his face. I wipe the tears that are falling from my eyes but suddenly he

started to groan in pain gain and he suddenly vomited making me look at him in shock.

I called his name and he turn around and smile at me making me sigh in relief.

"Glen what is happening to you. Come on Glen don't scare me like this" I in worry while I try again to

heal him since it worked a while ago.

I then looked at him when suddenly he started to close his eyes making me panic but when I feel that

he was breathing I relaxed.

"He is just unconscious" I mumble to myself while I slum on the floor besides him.

(Thank goodness.....) I look at his face and he was unconscious. But still his magic is not fast enough

to return to his body.

I immediately cast a spell to make him float in the air so that I could help him get out of here. His body

floats in the air while I tried to stand up and stumble at first but I managed.

"He still needs medical attention" I mumble while looking at him.

"Stay strong Glen. You're going to be okay" I said while holding his hands.

I then look around and saw that the other way out was also covered in smokes of the dark abyss

making me get shock.

"Why is the smoke of the dark abyss still here?" I thought that they… that is not the important thing to

do since I need to get him treated I said while I looked at Glen who is floating.

"I'm sorry Sir" I said before I chanted a spell and then I point my wand at the wall.

The wall suddenly exploded and created a hole for us to escape since the other ways are already filled

with smokes.

I push Glen and neared the hole and then I froze when I look at the school. I can't even move my body

at the shock.

"What is happening here? Why are the smokes of the dark abyss around the school?"
