Chapter 512 She Comes, She Goes

After reaching Eden Investment, Clarissa first had a meeting with some of the internal members there

to discuss some strategy.

Afterward, everyone started choosing their housing units happily. Clarissa could only watch from the

sidelines.

“I want a unit on the eighth floor of the east block,” the legal director said.

Charles shook his head. “No can do. Someone’s already gotten it.”

“Who?” the legal director asked. “This is a huge unit! 2600 square feet!”

“Who else but Mr. Lawrence?”

Clarissa’s heart jolted. ‘Is Damien buying a house here too?’

“Mr. Lawrence doesn’t have to pay for a unit, does he?” the legal director joked.

“Of course not. He’s paying to build these properties. Why should he have to pay? It’s not just one unit,

you see. Both the units on the eighth floor are his,” Charles commented matter-of-factly. “Of course, I

don’t have to pay either.”

Everyone was silent at that.

It was pointless to compare with such people. They would only feel more envious.

“Clarissa, are you getting one?” Charles asked Clarissa.

Clarissa’s expression turned awkward. “No, I’m not buying.”

Charles only gave Clarissa a look. However, he didn’t say more.

After the meeting, Ray didn’t send Clarissa home. Instead, he went to stay at a hotel.

He called Damien. “Damien, it’s a shame that you didn’t get to see Clarissa’s disappointed look when

we were picking units. Why don’t you lend her some money?”

“I won’t.”

Damien was still furious with Clarissa. He was angry that she had called out another man’s name in her

sleep, and that she had snuck out with him. She probably didn’t even know that Damien knew about

Seth having been in Florin.

She only thought of him when she needed money. Well, she was about to know he wasn’t her ATM!

Clarissa soon reached home.

Although she was deeply regretful, she didn’t have the money to buy the house. Thus, it was pointless

to yearn for it.

She threw the thought to the back of her mind and began to prepare for her class the next day.

After class the next day, she set an essay topic for her students titled, “The Validity of the Trust

Contract.”

The word limit was five thousand words, and the students had to hand it in next week.

After class, Clarissa took an afternoon nap before preparing for her next topic. For this, she racked her

brains for ideas. When she was done, Lisa and Rem, being doctorate students, only had to deal with

minor details. Clarissa handed the work to them on the very same day. After some organizing, there

was only a little bit of work left for her.

Around five o’ clock, Ray called her, saying that he would be returning to Genovia. He wanted to treat

her to dinner before leaving.

Clarissa didn’t reject Ray. He used to be her teacher, so a meal was nothing to her. Besides, she was

completely exhausted. Going out would refresh her.

Seeing that she was almost done with her work, she saved the file and shut down her computer, and

then prepared to leave.

Coincidentally, Caleb dropped by. He said there was a book he wanted to borrow, but the university’s

only copy was with Clarissa. He wanted to take a look at it, but didn’t need to take it with him. He only

required a brief look and would return it to her afterward.

Clarissa was under the assumption that Caleb was very knowledgable. She wondered what the book

could be about. Besides, he worked at the library, so it was unsurprising he knew that she had it with

her.

Ray called again. Clarissa said to Caleb, “You stay here to read. When you’re done, just lock up behind

you. I have an appointment to get to and will be leaving now.”

“Aren’t you afraid of getting robbed?” Caleb said with a smile.

“There’s nothing in the house, only books. Go ahead and rob me if you want. I’d be happy about it,

even.” After saying that, Clarissa left.

Caleb stayed there quietly and took pictures of the book’s pages so he could refer to them for his

research.

Just then, Chanel came by. Her excuse that she was looking for Clarissa was untrue. In fact, she wasnovelbin

actually looking for Damien.
