Chapter 509 What Bother Now?

Penelope Henderson was the source behind this announcement. Of course, she hadn’t made too big of

a deal of it. She had secretly made a dating profile for Damien and put it online. Since Clarissa shacked

up with Joseph the moment she came back to the country, Penelope naturally had to find a way to

distract Clarissa. Obviously, Damien was the biggest lure she could use. Clarissa and Damien had to

be at each other’s throats now, fighting for their son’s custody.

Meanwhile, Clarissa was cleaning herself up in Neil’s room. Then, she went to sleep on the bed.

“Mommy, this is the first time you’ve slept with me, ever!” Neil said happily as he changed into pyjamas.

“Then I’ll spend more time with you in the future, okay?” Although Clarissa was unhappy with Damien,

she loved Neil very much.

“That’s great!” Neil was overjoyed.

Clarissa held Neil and he went to sleep.

It was only about nine o’ clock, so Clarissa found it difficult to fall asleep.

Bethany sent Clarissa a Whatsapp message.

Bethany: [Clarissa, isn’t one woman enough for your husband? Now he wants more? He just ruined

your life, and now he wants to find someone new? Fuck! He’s a monster!]

Clarissa was utterly befuddled.

Clarissa: [What do you mean?]

Bethany: [How can you not know about such a big thing?]

After that, Bethany sent Clarissa the ad from the dating website.

Clarissa took a serious look at it. It seemed the president of the New East Corporation was looking for

a wife. He was handsome and charismatic, tall and dark, with an annual salary over 100 million, aged

36, without any bad habits, was on the outs with his ex-wife. Now that he was divorced, he was looking

for a woman around 18 to 25 years of age, at least 170 cm tall, pretty and with fair skin, caring and

well-tempered to spend his life with.

What a fucking joke!

Of these criteria, Clarissa fulfilled none of them. The traits that she had were not ones that were asked

for. She was only 168 cm tall, nowhere near 170 cm. She was also much older than the age range

listed. Although she had fair skin, it was not the smooth and supple kind he was surely looking for. She

held a doctorate, but that wasn’t something anyone was interested in. The wealthy didn’t care for wives

who were learned. It was all about the looks.

Thanks to the bit about Damien’s 100 million annual salary, women would be approaching him in

droves. Besides, he was also “handsome and charismatic, tall and dark.” It seemed he was the perfect

candidate for a husband.

Clarissa put her phone to the side and stopped thinking about it.

Lily had been right. Damien was looking for a stepmother for Neil.

Since he was looking for a wife, then she couldn’t let Neil fall into the hands of a wicked stepmother.

Clarissa had made her mind. She would approach Damien the next day and talk to him about taking

Neil to Florin and registering him at a kindergarten there.

The next morning, Clarissa ate her breakfast unhappily. Once Neil was done, Mrs. Faber brought him

to the nursery to play. Clarissa faced Damien and said, “I want to bring Neil and have him study at a

kindergarten in Florin. It’s in the University of Florin campus, and has food and everything else

settled…”

“No way!” Damien waved his fork in objection.

Typically, when Damien said “no way,” then the matter was closed. However, his rejection pained

Clarissa. She didn’t know what to say.

“I don’t want Neil to be raised by a stepmother,” Clarissa said.

“So now you care?” Damien raised his head and looked at her in discontent. “You were the one who

chose to divorce and leave your child. You should’ve expected this!”

“I had my reasons!”

“Who caused these circumstances in the first place? Was it me? Didn’t I do all of this for you?” Damien

roared angrily.

Clarissa knew it was not all her fault, either. At least, when it came to her mother, it wasn’t. But whennovelbin

she thought about it, all of this was in the past. What use was there of bringing it up? It was pointless.

Therefore, she didn’t say anything.

“I’m both his mother and his father, since I raised him. Now you’re regretting things? Who do you think I

am? Why do I have to listen to everything you say? If he stays with you, then he’d end up with a

stepfather as well,” Damien snarled.

Clarissa lowered her head, still silent. In this matter, she was indeed wrong. She hadn’t cared about

any of these things for three whole years. Neil was older now, so she couldn’t just take him away. It

wasn’t right.

“Then, can I take Neil to Florin for a few days?” she asked.

“No!”

Again, Clarissa was speechless.

Clarissa had planned to leave today. But since Damien wasn’t letting her have Neil, she could only stay

for yet another day.

That day, she brought Neil out to play the whole day. However, it felt like she didn’t have enough time

to spend with him.

That night, she slept with Neil in his room again.
