Chapter 499 You Can’t Touch Me

As they ate, Clarissa’s elbow kept bumping into Damien’s. When this happened, he only gave her a

look. He didn’t mind it much.novelbin

Sometimes, he would look at Clarissa, and Clarissa would look at him. Sometimes, this didn’t happen.

There was a bit of a “this is how it is, what are you gonna do about it?” kind of feeling to it.

Damien wouldn’t pick a fight with her.

When they paid, the bill came up to only about 560 dollars. Clarissa also had a 100 dollar cash

voucher, so she only spent about 460 dollars.

“Hold on, I have a cash voucher.” As she spoke, Clarissa dug around in her bag to find the voucher.

“Clarissa, you’re so stingy! What kind of a friend are you?” Evidently, Lily was unhappy with this meal

Clarissa was treating her to.

“It’s not like you’ll be here for just one day. I’m taking care of all your needs. This is just the start.

There’ll be a big meal tomorrow. Besides, my place only has one bed. It’s small and won’t fit us all. I’ve

gotten a room for you at the campus guest house. Is that better?” Clarissa asked.

She only said all this for Damien’s benefit.

Of course, Damien understood her meaning.

She sounded repulsed by the thought of sleeping with him again after spending a few years apart.

Damien gave a displeased huff. “I remember when we used to share a small bed. It was never a

problem.”

She thought about it for a while, and remembered that the bed in her home had been the same size.

“Don’t think too much. I didn’t say that for you.”

“But I feel that way.”

Seeing that Damien had caught on, Clarissa could only pretend to concentrate on looking for the cash

voucher.

Suddenly, a name card fell out from her bag.

Damien glanced at it and saw what was written on it. It said, “La Monde Hotel.”

This was one of the only six-star hotels in Florin.

Based on how stingy Clarissa was, Damien knew there was no chance she would stay at such a fancy

hotel. Besides, she lived on campus. Why would she stay in a hotel? The only explanation was that

someone had come to Florin and was staying there.

That person was probably Seth Highmore.

She had practically told him she wouldn’t share a bed. Now, it seemed she had shared a bed with

someone last night.

Such double standards…

Damien really wanted to know who Seth was.

After the meal, Clarissa asked Lily and Eric out to see the sights of Florin at night, telling Lily how pretty

it was.

Lily was all too happy to agree.

Damien sent Lily and Eric back to their room for a rest before driving Clarissa back to her place.

He did not leave immediately.

Clarissa was sleepy, and kept yawning. She looked completely wrecked.

“Didn’t you sleep well last night? What were you up to?” Damien asked her.

“I was writing my paper,” she lied. It was true she was sleepy, and it was also true she wanted Damien

to leave as soon as possible. Even though she slept the same number of hours whether she slept after

midnight or at eleven, there was still a difference.

“What paper are you writing?” Damien lit a cigarette and started smoking in her room.

As she dispersed the smoke, Clarissa snapped, “Smoke outside! I’m going to sleep. You can’t touch

me.”

“I won’t. Sleep.”

Damien sat on the couch outside and smoked languidly.

Clarissa was truly sleepy, and fell asleep very quickly.

She lay on her side on the bed. She kept dreaming about the events of the past, probably because she

had just seen Seth recently. In university, she always got confused by the different accents spoken by

everyone around her, and would mess up some small things. Her results weren’t too good, so she had

gone to see Seth. Seth would patiently explain how the accents differed. Seth’s own accent was very

melodious…
