Chapter 44

Chapter 44 Stand Herel Clarissa was tending to Damien’s grandfather when Madelynn suddenly said,

“You must be tired. Let me help.” Clarissa did not think much about it and stood up.

At that moment, Damien came in.

Madelynn really said it at the right moment. When Clarissa saw Damien, she remembered the

awkwardness from the day she bought the computers.

Damien looked at his grandfather and adjusted the flow of the drip to be a little slower. He said sternly,

“Clarissa, come with me.”

Clarissa had no choice but to follow him out.

They went to the corridor a little farther from Grandpa’s bedroom. Damien then asked Clarissa to stand

against the wall.

“How could you let Madelynn do this kind of work?” Damien asked sternly.

Clarissa thought with contempt, ‘Why shouldn’t she be allowed to do this kind of work?’

“When are we getting a divorce?” Clarissa’s tone was harsh because she was upset, especially when

she thought about the matter with the computers.

Obviously, her question stunned Damien for a moment,

“Are you looking forward to getting a divorce?” He frowned as he looked at the disgruntled Clarissa.

“Madelynn is back, and I’ve already moved out of the villa. I think it’s only a matter of time before we

get a divorce, I just want to ask you for a date so that I can be mentally prepared.” Clarissa raised her

lead but did not look at Damien.

“Oh, is that so? Don’t you have any idea why I asked you to move out of the villa? Do you still want to

come back and make money?” Damien sarcastically said, “Oh, right. Now that the computers are

sponsored by the company, you don’t lack money.”

“Are you seriously jcalous because of Zach? He’s already dead, so why do you care?! why didn’t you

tell me that you pecked at my diary? You violated my privacy, so I’m going to sue you!” Clarissa looked

right into Damien’s eyes.

“Go ahead and sue me then!”

Clarissa knew that her little threat could not scare Damien He would even take it as a joke.

Shegrunted and turned her head to the side.

“Stand here!”

“When will we get a divorce?” Clarissa asked again.

“You’ll just have to bear being Mrs. Lawrence!” Alter speaking, Damien walked back to his

Grundlather’s room.

It seemed that Clarissa would have to continue being “Mrs. Lawrence” for a while. Damien would

probably only marry Madelynn after his grandfather passed away. “Petty b*stard!’ Clarissa muttered

under her breath after Damien walked away. Unexpectedly, Damien stopped walking and came back

again. “What did you say?” He asked Clarissa with a slight frown. Clarissa lowered her head, “Nothing.

You’re so handsome…”

Damien Imew that she did not mean those words, but he did not pursue it further and left.

After he went into the room, he noticed that his grandfather was already awake. Grandpa asked

Damien, “Where’s Clary? Is she back yet?” “She just got back and is waiting outside.” “Ask her to come

in!” Grandpa waved at Damien eagerly. “Grandpa, I’ll get her.” After speaking, Madelynn walked out.

When Madelynn saw Clarissa standing against the wall, she curled her lips into a mocking smile.

“Damien really treats you as a subordinate. Come in. Grandpa called you.”

Clarissa felt aggrieved. When she saw Madelynn summoning her, she suddenly felt excluded.

Grandpa smiled brightly as soon as he saw Clarissa. “Clary! You’re back from your business trip? You

won’t leave again now that you’re back, right?” Clarissa did not dare to promise Grandpa simply, so she

glanced at Damien. “Yeah, she’s not leaving anymore. She’ll stay at home.” “Aww, are the two of you

separated? How long have you been married? Damien, you can’t do this!” Madelynn patted Damien’s

shoulder intimately. Madelynn made it seem like she had the final say as to whether Damien and

Clarissa had a good relationship or not.”

“I have another advertisement to shoot in the afternoon, so I need to leave now.” Madelynn stood there

gracefully. “I didn’t drive. Damien, will you send me off?”

Madelynn completely ignored Clarissa. Damien was a gentleman, and it was difficult to get a cab at the

hillside villa, so Damien went out with Madelynn.

Clarissa and Damien’s grandfather were the only ones left in the bedroom.

“Grandpa, are you liungry? Should I make some soup for you?” Clarissa had not seen Damien’s

grandfather for a long time, so her bright eyes teared up. “I’m not hungry. I…”Grandpa sat on the bed

and leaned closer to Clarissa. “I pretended to saint…”

Clarissa was stunned. “Why?”

“So that you can come back! I don’t have long to live, so my days with you are numbered…” Clarissa’s

tears streamed down her face when she heard this. She sobbed and said, “Grandpa…”

“I heard what Madelynn said just now. I didn’t like her six years ago. She always thinks that she’s very

clever. I’m on your side, but you have to strive for it yourself! Don’t let Damien kick you out again. If he

kicks you out, then Madelynn will take advantage of the situation!” Grandpa kindly reminded Clarissa.

“Grandpa, how do you know?” Clarissa’s face was tear-stained, and she felt very ashamed that

Grandpa lovew about it.

“I’m old and wise! How could I miss it?” Clarissa’s heart trembled when she thought, ‘Did Grandpa find

out about our marriage agreement? What should I do if Grandpa found out?’ “Listen to me. You just

need to work liarder. Damien is a very stubborn child and only responds to soft approaches.”

Clarissa nodded. “I noticed…”

“He’s so much older than you, so he should be coaxing you. But sometimes, you have to compromise

too, right?” Grandpa kindly reminded her again. “Mm. Grandpa, have some oranges.” Clarissa peeled

an orange for Grandpa.

When Madelynn got into the car, she saw the umbrella on the passenger seat. It was Mario Talarico, a

European brand. Madelynn remembered that Damien did not have the habit of using an umbrella.

Damien liked to walk alone in the rain and never kept an umbrella in his car. It was unlikely that he

would suddenly change his many years of habit.

Therefore, Madelynn was sure that he did not buy this umbrella.

She also could guess who bought it.

Madelynn was jealous and upset.

“Damien, why did you buy a fake umbrella?” Madelynn said to Damien as she held the umbrella.

Damien never used umbrellas, so he was unfamiliar with the brands. Thus, he could not identily

whether it was original or fake.

“What?” Damien had already started the car. “This umbrella is a fake. Did you get conned?” Madelynn

pretended to examine the umbrella, “Really?” Damien frowned tightly, not knowing how many

“surprises” Clarissa gave him. “Yealı! This brand of umbrella costs more than 9,000 dollars. Look at the

workmanship of this fake umbrella! It can’t even compare to the original.” Madelynn seemed to find it

funny.” Damien, are you trying to ruin your image by carrying around this umbrella? It’ll be

embarrassing if your client sees this in your car, thinking that the president of New East Corporation

Group is a fraud. I’ll throw it away for you.” “No need. Just leave it there.” Damien’s voice was cold and

intimidating.

Madelynn smiled and put it down.

She figured that Damien would not be able to verify whether this umbrella was an original since he did

not have the expertise. Thus, he would only take out his anger on Clarissa. Madelynn was very

satisfied with Damien’s attitude of punishing Clarissa to stand outside earlier.

She was confident that she could make this couple break up in no time.

After Madelynn got out of the car, she said to Damien, “That girl came from a poor family, so she won’tnovelbin

understand a lot of things. Don’t be too strict with her. Otherwise, it might backfire. Got it, Damien?”

“I’m leaving.” After speaking, Damien drove the car away. On the road, Damien looked sideways at the

umbrella. He thought, ‘She can just buy a cheaper umbrella if she’s not willing to pay more than 9,000

dollars for it. What does she take me for? Moreover, that’s my money anyway! She’s not even willing to

spend a cent on me?!’

When Damien got home and locked the car, he received a WhatsApp message from Landon.

(Bro, please don’t suspect Clarissa of embezzling the company’s funds to buy the computers. She told

me that she sold her father’s old house.)

Damien gritted his teeth and thought, ‘She has so many people defending her! It looks like I gotta teach

her a lesson so that I won’t disappoint those people’s expectations…’ Damien did not know why

Landon suddenly brought up the computers when this matter had already passed. Was Landon trying

to provoke Damien?

Damien was already fuming, and now, he was even more annoyed.
