Chapter 419 You Can Go In My Stead Although she had changed into a new number, Clarissa could
still recognize Damien’s number. She stood up and paced the room uneasily.
Before he called, she was writing a speech about her journey as a young lecturer in the University of
Florin so far.
It hadn’t been ten days since the semester had started, and Clarissa was already tasked to give a
speech as the representative of the young lecturers in the university at the orientation for this year’s
new intakes
Throughout the three years she spent in Emmeria, she had never received any threats from Iris. It was
as if her enemies had never existed in the first place. Neil seemed to be doing fine, and he didn’t look
like he was suffering from any adversity in life either.
Thus, she was unsure as to why Damien was calling her right now. In the end, Clarissa decided to pick
up the phone. “Hello! Do you remember me? Why did you take so long to pick up the phone?” A
childish voice echoed from the receiver, surprising Clarissa.
When she heard that it was Neil, her heart warmed up instantly.
“I was busy writing something just now.” “Do you want to become a rich woman?” Neil couldn’t help but
ask. To Neil, Damien was the only adult he knew who liked to read and write. He didn’t know anyone
who had the same hobby as Damien.
“A rich woman?” Clarissa was confused.
“Daddy always says that knowledgeable people are the richest people in the world!”
Clarissa smiled bitterly at the thought of Damien. “Yes, I want to become the richest woman in the
world. But I still have a long way to go before reaching that goal. You need to study hard too, okay?”
“Okay. The reason I’m calling you today is to persuade you to become Daddy’s wife! If you agree to be
his wife, he’s rich enough to give you everything you want! He has the looks too! What do you think?”
Clarissa couldn’t help but chuckle. “Kid, this is not the first time you’ve done something like this, right?”
“Of course not! After he saw you today, he was acting quite unusually. I’m sure he’s fallen head overnovelbin
heels for you! Do you want to meet him at the garden located at my Great-grandpa’s residential area
tomorrow night?”
Clarissa knew it was impossible for Damien to fall in love with her again. There was a high chance that
Neil was making that up. “I’m not sure if I have the time to meet him.” Clarissa tried to decline his offer
as politely as possible. “I’ll call you if I decide to go, okay?”
“Okay, don’t forget to call me. Goodbye!” After that, Neil hung up. Situing in front of her desk, Clarissa
couldn’t believe she had the chance to see her son again in this lifetime. Heliad grown into such a cute
and cheerful child! Thinking about Neil left a bitter yet comforting feeling in her heart.
She knew Damien had long since given up on pursuing her. If he truly wanted her back, he would’ve
looked for her even if she was on the other side of earth. She was curious about one thing, however.
Where was the child Lucy had given birth to?
Suddenly, the image of Damien’s nonchalant expression when he regarded her as a stranger rose to
her mind.
He must think of Clarissa as a selfish woman who would abandon her child in pursuit of her career.
What he didn’t see was her heart writhing in agony the moment she saw her son all grown up, yet was
unable to take part in any of her upbringing.
Clarissa was positive Neil called her without Damien’s knowledge. In fact, she didn’t plan on meeting
Neil at all tomorrow. Not long after Neil hung up the phone, Damien walked out of the bathroom in his
pajamas. “Daddy, I called that pretty lady just now. I even asked her to go on a date with you tomorrow,
“Neil said.
Damien reached for the phone, scrolled through the call log, and saw the unsaved number.
“It’s obvious Neil loves Clarissa a lot. Why don’t you attend the date for his sake?” Ray egged
on.
Damien sat on the sofa. “If you like her that much, you can go in my stead.” Ray was left speechless
again.
