Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 255

Chapter 255

New East Corporation President Lawrence In the following days, Clarissa rarely saw Damien. She was

still sleeping whenever he left earlier. When he came back, she was already in her room.

They worked at different times, and so avoided seeing each other.

Clarissa guessed that Damien might have taught her a lesson for raging at him before. Luckily for her,

he had been restraining his temper and desire since she was pregnant.

A few days before New Year‘s eve, Clarissa got a message from Lily on WhatsApp.

Lily: [Clarissa! Landon, Bethany, and I are planning to visit you this New Year‘s eve. What do you think?

Since you‘re pregnant, you‘ve stopped having fun with us.]

Clarissa knew she had to ask Damien if they could come. What if Damien was in a bad mood when

they arrived? Damien might kick them out disrespectfully.

Even so, Clarissa couldn‘t be bothered to text Damien. She took a screenshot of Lily‘s question on

WhatsApp and sent him that, followed by a question mark. Damien did not reply to her.

Clarissa took a deep breath. It seemed she would have to get up early or wait for him to come home.

In the last few days, Clarissa felt she had been too rash the other day. She was so angry at Damien for

his callousness that it had messed up their relationship. Now, she couldn‘t even beg him

At night, Clarissa sat in the living room watching TV. Damien finally came home at around ten.

“You‘re not sleeping yet?” he asked Clarissa. He didn‘t sound surprised at all. It was as if he had

expected to see Clarissa waiting for him.

“Not yet. There‘s something I want to discuss with you.” Clarissa‘s voice was soft.

“About what?” Damien changed into his house clothes and sat down next to Clarissa.

“I sent you a text on WhatsApp the other day.” Clarissa looked up the chat with him. “I just wanted to

ask you if they could come.”

Damien had seen the chat and knew what it was about, but he just didn‘t reply.

At that moment, he kept staring at his contact name saved on her phone. His name on her phone was

‘New East Corporation President Lawrence‘.

His name used to be “Stranger” on her phone, but she had changed it to “New East Corporation

President Lawrence”. He finally had a proper name in her contacts, but just his last name. She

probably regarded him as the same as the rest of her clients. One more or one less made no

difference.

Damien had been restraining his anger lately. If Clarissa hadn‘t been pregnant, he would‘ve long taught

her a lesson.

“It‘s your room. Whatever.” After having said that, Damien went to his room.

Clarissa was happy with his answer. She immediately sent Lily a reply.

Clarissa: (Sure. Come over on New Year‘s eve, Let‘s hang out together.]

Lily: [Did President Lawrence agree?)

Clarissa: [He doesn‘t care.]

As New Year approached, Mrs. Faber became busier. Damien hired a couple of part–time workers to

help with the cleaning. Clarissa was the only one who wasn‘t busy at home. She was quite free, so she

did nothing other than check her emails all day. She had been waiting for an offer from Kortel

University.

Finally, New Year‘s eve arrived. Damien still went to work anyway.

Clarissa had been hearing lively sounds outside since the morning. The view from the eighteenth floor

was gorgeous. She could almost get a complete view of the whole neighborhood from her window.

She remembered last year. She wasn‘t very happy with her life with him, mainly because of Madelynn

and Connie.

Clarissa hoped everything would go well for the new year. She wanted to have her babies safely and

hopefully, receive an offer from Kortel University.

Suddenly, her phone chimed. Clarissa picked up to see a text message notification from her bank. She

had received a project bonus of 348 thousand dollars.

Clarissa was thrilled! It was gratifying and far more rewarding

to make money on your own, rather than to take it from someone else.

After that, she texted Joseph on WhatsApp.

Clarissa: (Thanks, boss!)

Joseph: [You‘re welcome. Anyway, you deserved it. Besides, you‘ve done two projects on your own

and helped the firm to win many deals. The bonus isn‘t a lot. It‘s less than what you deserved.]

Clarissa: [The firm‘s still new, so I understand. But anyway, thanks, boss.]

Joseph sent a happy emoji to Clarissa as a reply.

Clarissa thought Damien deserved part of her bonus. After all, he was the one who gathered the

information about the deals and gave it to Clarissa. However, a big shot like him probably would not

care about this amount of money.

Damien came back at two in the evening, bringing Ray along with him.

“Director Conrad! You came?”Clarissa greeted Ray with a smile.

“My parents are abroad, so I‘m here for New Year‘s Eve celebration and dinner. Am I welcomed here?”

Ray asked Clarissa.

“Of course. Welcome! I have three friends coming over tonight.”

“Oh. Four people is just a nice number for card games.” Ray

glanced at Damien.

“Which four?” Clarissa asked Ray, glancing at Damien.

“Your three friends and me.”‘novelbin

“Then…” When Damien turned away, Clarissa quietly pointed at him and asked Ray, “What about

him?”

“Him?” Ray looked at him without meaningful eyes and said, “ He doesn‘t know how.”

Damien turned around and looked at Ray meaningfully. It was as if he was calling him a liar.

“He can‘t play, so we mustn‘t let him join the game tonight,” Ray said. “Anyway, Clarissa, I wish you a

Happy New Year.” Then, he gave Clarissa a beautiful brooch as a gift.

“Thank you, Director Conrad. I love it!” Clarissa examined the brooch. It was quite heavy, and it

seemed like a good thing.

Soon, Landon, Lily, and Bethany arrived.

“Look! It‘s a good thing I brought card games,” Lily said, pulling out a deck of beautiful crystal cards

from her bag.

Bethany gave Clarissa some clothes as a gift, but from the packaging, it was hard to tell who it was for.

“Is this for me?” Clarissa said as she took out the clothes and looked at them.

“Of course not. It‘s for my future niece and nephew. Once your twins are born, they‘ll have to wear the

clothes I gave them,” Bethany said proudly.

Mrs. Faber happened to hear Bethany‘s words as she emerged from the kitchen with a fruit platter in

her hand.
