Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 237

Chapter 237 Unlike Her

Damien soon arrived at the hospital,

When he walked into Clarissa’s ward, he found that she was sound asleep.

Now that she was well into her pregnancy, she could only sleep on her side. She had a hand on her

belly.

She was crying, her tears soaking into the pillow, and she was mumbling, “Mom, mom…”novelbin

Damien guessed that she was missing her mother again.

He wiped her tears away.

His touch was feather-light, but it still woke Clarissa up. She instinctively moved away from him, as if

avoiding the plague. “What are you doing here?! Have you given the things to Rebecca already?” she

demanded with a frown

“Yes, I have. Are the projects the only things you care about?” Damien pulled up a chair and sat down.

“The only people that I care about in this world are gone,” she said desolately.

She was insinuating that Damien wasn’t someone she cared about.

His life and death meant nothing to her.

Because of her belly, she could only lie on her side. Whatever it was, Damien had specially made a trip

here to see her, and it would be too rude to turn her back on him. She had no choice but to face him,

but she shut her eyes and refused to talk to him.

“Clarissa! Clarissa, how are you?” An anxious voice rang out from the door.

Clarissa opened her eyes, and saw that it was Joseph.

“How are you doing?” Almost instinctively, he grabbed her hand. “Why didn’t you tell me that something

like this happened?”

He had been on a business trip the day before, and he had come straight to the hospital after getting

off the plane. Joseph looked terrified as he thought about what had happened.

“I’m fine,” Clarissa assured him with a smile.

“I don’t know what I would’ve done if something had happened to you and the babies. I think it’s better

for you to stop working from now on. I’ll take care of everything.” He looked vexed.

“That’s not necessary. The projects I’ve just gotten are enough to keep us busy for a year. I’ll be more

careful from now on,” she said. The whole time, she totally ignored Damien. He sat there silently, not

uttering a word.

Despite his silence, his face was steely.

From Joseph and Clarissa’s conversation, he had gleaned a few points. Firstly, the babies truly were

Joseph’s. Secondly, Clarissa had pulled so many tricks to get the projects from him for Joseph’s sake.

Moreover, she’d used an ear-piercing term:”us”.

She and Joseph were a joint entity.

“Clarissa, I don’t think you should rent a place of your own anymore. Come and stay at my house. I’ll

ask my parents and the housekeepers to take care of you. I’m really uneasy with you living alone now

that you’re so far along,” Joseph said.

In the past, Clarissa definitely would’ve turned him down.

Now, with what had happened with Nicole, she didn’t think she could treat things so lightly anymore.

Since Nicole had failed this time, she would definitely come up with something else and would only

stop once Clarissa miscarried.

Indeed, it wasn’t safe for Clarissa to stay alone.

Furthermore, she was having twins, which put her at higher risk compared to other pregnant women.

She did need someone to take care of her. After some thought, Clarissa agreed to it.

Of course, she had also done it to spite Damien. “I didn’t give you two houses for you to just let them

rot, did I?” Damien looked at her angrily. “I don’t plan on taking your one hundred million dollars or the

two houses. I haven’t touched any of the money, and I haven’t seen the houses. I don’t even know

where they are.” She looked at him, her tone cold and distant. It was the complete opposite of how she

treated Joseph

Damien immediately turned and left. He went home.

Ever since Grandpa Lawrence died and Clarissa left, the house had become cold and cheerless.

Actually, when Grandpa Lawrence was in Florin, this was the way things had been. Damien had always

stayed alone.

However, it was hard to go back to living in silence once he had experienced joy and liveliness.

“Clary,” he called. At the sound of his voice, the black cat jumped onto his lap.

This Clary was so obedient.

Unlike her.

A few days later, Clarissa felt much better. Joseph helped her to end the tenancy of her apartment, and

she moved into his house.

Joseph’s family stayed in a villa as well. It wasn’t as large as Hill Villa, but at least, there were more

people around. The atmosphere was also much warmer. There were three housekeepers, as well as

Joseph’s parents. The room Joseph had picked out for Clarissa was on the first floor. It was the largest

one, and

it faced the sun.

On Clarissa’s first day there, the housekeeper made her chicken soup, and it tasted great. It was

definitely a lot nicer staying here compared to being on her own.

The only person who was anxious about Clarissa’s arrival was Frank.
