Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 220

Chapter 220 Got On Well? That night, Damien didn’t come back.

Lily invited Clarissa out for pizza. The pizza smelled delicious, but unlike before, neither of them had

the appetite to eat.

Lily held Clarissa’s hand. “Clarissa, don’t be like this. We’re all sad that your mom’s gone, and we all

know it wasn’t an accident, but that’s what the police have concluded it to be. What else can we do?”

“Even you can tell that it wasn’t an accident?”

“Yeah. All of us can tell. I heard that President Lawrence had Mrs. Johnson cremated as soon as

possible. Also, why were you out for so long?” Lily asked.

Clarissa frowned. If she had guessed correctly, she had been unconscious for four days and three

nights.

Four days was more than enough time for Damien to make sure everything was taken care of.

She suspected he’d given her sleeping pills.novelbin

If he didn’t have a guilty conscience, why did he rush through the whole thing? And why had he

drugged her so that she couldn’t be around for the police’s investigation? “There’s another thing.

President Lawrence got someone to clear out your cubicle today. Where are you going?” Lily asked.

“Emmeria, maybe. I told him that I wanted to go abroad. He probably doesn’t want me to go to

Emmeria because Joseph’s going there at the end of the year, but I insisted. With what’s happened to

my mom, he has no choice but to say yes.” Clarissa’s gaze sharpened.

Lily opened her mouth, but she didn’t say anything. “What do you want to say?” Clarissa asked.

“Once you go abroad, you probably won’t be back for a long time. You and President Lawrence

“I initially wanted to get a divorce. Rich people like him can do anything they want just because they

have money. Since he can use money to shut the police up, he can always use it to find himself

another woman. We’ll just live our separate lives from now on.” Clarissa’s heart had frozen over, but

her words were filled with contempt.

“But you guys got on so well before this.”

Clarissa sneered. “Got on well?”

In the beginning, he’d suspected her and Zach. After that, he’d suspected her and Joseph. He was

suspicious of everything.

She and Damien had only truly started to get on well recently, but they were now about to be

separated.

Becoming powerful was her only way out. Once she was powerful enough, she wouldn’t have to

acquiesce to him all the time and beg him for money.

“Well, Landon and I will see you off when you leave. Everyone in the company’s gossiping like mad

about you, so I guess it’s good that you won’t be going in.”

Clarissa nodded.

She spent ten days at Theresa’s apartment. Before leaving, she found a photo of Theresa and put it

into her wallet.

From now onward, she was an orphan.

When Theresa had been in a coma and couldn’t speak, Clarissa still had hope that she would one day

wake up.

Now, thanks to Damien, she was all out of hope.

Clarissa lowered her head.

Two days later, she received her salary from New East Corporation for the last time. They paid her a

month and a half’s worth, equivalent to about 30 thousand dollars. There was also severance pay,

bringing the total to 50 thousand dollars.

Damien personally brought her her passport. “I’ve transferred 20 million dollars to your account,” he

said. “Thank you, President Lawrence,” she said calmly.

She didn’t feel uncomfortable with him giving her so much money anymore. Perhaps he gave her such

a large sum to make up for his family killing her mother.

Clarissa took it without an ounce of unease.

“President Lawrence?” He frowned at her. She had started off addressing him as President Lawrence,

followed by hubby, and then Damien. Now, they were back to square one.

She used to address him as President Lawrence with respect, but now her tone was filled with

indifference and coldness.

“Aren’t you President Lawrence?” Clarissa asked in return.

“I’m still your husband. Also…” He walked up to her and grabbed her jaw. “Don’t do anything stupid

while you’re abroad. You know what will happen if you cheat on me.” Clarissa found this laughable.

Didn’t he know why she wanted to leave the country?

And he wanted her to remain chaste for him?

“What are you going to do if I cheat on you? Kill me? I know murder isn’t something new to you. Also, I

don’t care what you do back here. You can be with anyone you want; it has nothing to do with me.

We’re in a contractual marriage, anyway. Aren’t I generous?” She looked him in the eye.

Damien gritted his teeth. “Nothing to do with you, huh? Just you wait and see.”

“There’s no need to wait. The second I’m gone, plenty of women will flock over to you since you’re so

rich,” Clarissa said mockingly. He abruptly threw her onto the bed and started to take his belt off.

“What else do you know how to do aside from forcing yourself on me?” She was contemptuous of him,

but she didn’t fight back.

This wasn’t Damien’s first time treating her this way, anyway.

When they were done, Clarissa went downstairs to buy herself the morning-after pill and swallowed it

to his face.

Damien merely sneered.
