Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 170

Chapter 170 Not Willing to Be With Me? New East Corporation resumed operations after a weeklong

holiday.

Finally, Clarissa could go back to work.

Compared to going to work, it was much more tiring to be at home every day. Damien had done hisnovelbin

best to exhaust her.

On her first day back at work, she received a huge gift. Inside, there was a high-end smartwatch on

which she could receive notifications on the latest changes in the finance industry. There was also a

calculator that was much more advanced than normal calculators. It could calculate functions, and

there was even a handwriting pad people working in finance would use.

She loved them all!

These items were all sold separately, and it wasn’t easy to collect them all. Moreover, they were of the

highest quality available.

Clarissa would’ve taken a long time to collect them on her own, and they probably cost more than five

thousand dollars in total.

This time, she was sure that Joseph had given these to her.

He texted her.

Joseph: (How’s the gift? Practical enough for you?) Only Joseph would understand a financier.

Clarissa: [Very! Thanks for this, but it’s not a small sum. I have to pay you back.] After that, she

transferred five thousand dollars to him.

As usual, he transferred the money back to her.

As for the gifts… To tell the truth, Clarissa didn’t want to return them to him.

If he had prepared such a considerate gift for her, why had he given her flowers during the holidays?

After receiving the flowers, she hadn’t asked Joseph about it, and neither had he mentioned it.

Now, she was starting to suspect that the flowers weren’t from him. Clarissa: [Mr. Moore, did you send

me flowers during the holidays?)

Joseph: (And risk getting on his nerves?]

Clarissa frowned. Indeed, this wasn’t like Joseph.

He probably wouldn’t cause trouble for her.

Then, who were they from?

Janet wasn’t the type to gossip, but she couldn’t take her eyes off Clarissa’s gifts. She even said that

the person who had given these to Clarissa knew what was perfect for her

“I can’t take it! I have to draft a memo for Lucas to get each of us a set of these. It’s unfair that we have

to watch while you use something so advanced.” Janet said. “I can’t stand it!”

Clarissa didn’t want this to be broadcasted. She would be in trouble again if Damien were to find out.

However, Janet insisted.

As her colleague, Clarissa could understand how she felt. She didn’t say anything else to stop Janet

Soon, Janet’s memo was submitted.

The next day, Lucas personally came to Clarissa’s office to take a look at her “tools”.

Though they would only cost around a hundred thousand dollars in total, Lucas still had to report this to

Damien. After all, they needed the finance department to provide them with the funds for their new

equipment.

“Are these things absolutely necessary?” Damien asked Lucas after going through his report.

“Well, we can’t help feeling envious when we see how much more productive Johnson is after getting

these things.”

“Johnson?” Damien frowned. “Clarissa?”

“Yes, who else?”

“Who gave them to her?”

Lucas shrugged. “That’s her privacy.”

Even without an answer, Damien knew who it was from. Who else would be so familiar with an

auditor’s work?

It could only be that man!

They had just settled one issue, and here came another one.

Clarissa’s attitude toward him had only shown improvement a few days ago, and here Joseph was,

trying to cause trouble again…

“All employees in the audit department can have a budget of ten thousand dollars each to get their own

equipment. They’ll have to fork out their own money if they exceed the budget, and they can keep the

balance. As for those who already have their own equipment …” Damien lowered his eyes. “This

doesn’t include them.”

“Alright.” After that, Lucas left.

Soon, the funds from the finance department were sent to the audit department.

Everyone was elated, except Clarissa.

This was different from the money that Damien gave her personally. This was something that she

deserved as part of her job, but Damien had approved it for everyone except her.

However, this involved Joseph. She couldn’t go to Damien about this.

Otherwise, she would just be making things hard for herself.

She didn’t even mention a word about this in bed, which was the complete opposite of how she used to

handle these things.

In recent days, Damien wasn’t in a good mood. Though he didn’t say anything, he took it out on

Clarissa in bed.

Now that the holiday season was over, Theresa was going to move back home.

“Mom…” When Theresa brought this up as they were eating, Clarissa was reluctant to let her leave.

“Be good! You’re already an adult. Anyway, you should be with your husband now that you’re married.

Mrs. Cole should be back as well. We’re fine on our own.”

Clarissa lowered her head to drink her soup the way a sulking child would.

“What’s wrong? You’re not willing to be with me?” Damien’s voice rang out coldly.

“No.” She continued drinking her soup.
