Ray gave Damien a look, but Damien didn’t say anything.

They hadn’t been contacting each other at all in recent days.

The two of them stood in front of Clarissa and Connie, their backs facing the two women.

Connie immediately thought, ‘This is my chance! I’ll embarrass her in front of President Lawrence now!’

“Clarissa, stop arguing with your husband. It’s not like he did it on purpose.” Connie lowered her

volume, but she still made sure that Damien and Ray could hear her speak.

Clarissa was befuddled. ‘How did Connie know about what happened between us? New East has

definitely taken gossiping to another level.’

‘Why’s she mentioning this in front of Damien, though? Is she just dumb, or is she trying to get on his

good side?

Curious, Clarissa shot a questioning look at Connie, and then at Damien.

Ray, who was standing in front, turned to look at Damien as well.

“You should reconcile with him as soon as you can. You can’t live at your mom’s place forever, right?”

Connie added.

To that, Clarissa only smiled awkwardly in response.

Listening to Connie’s words, Damien wrongly assumed that Connie was trying to get Clarissa to return

to him.

‘I think she’s Connie Hale, Luke and Clarissa’s cousin,’ Damien thought.

Connie didn’t strike Damien as a bright person, given that she failed to read the room. However,

Damien let it slide as Connie was simply trying to get on his good side.

“It’s not his fault, you know?” Connie continued.

Clarissa remained silent and glanced at the number displayed on top of the lift. ‘How long does it take

to reach the ground floor?‘

Her cousin’s words were plain embarrassing.

“Connie, stop talking,” Clarissa said, lowering her head.

Connie was ecstatic. ‘Looks like my strategy’s working! Look at her, all worked up! I’ll do it again and

again until she can’t stay in New East anymore.’

Finally, they reached the ground floor. Ray and Damien were the first to leave.

“Damien, looks like you have an ally on your side! That girl is Clarissa’s cousin, right? With her help,

I’m sure Clarissa will come back home soon,” Ray said.

“Stop spouting nonsense, will you?” Damien chided.

Even though he seemed annoyed, deep down, he was secretly relieved.

Only when Clarissa and Connie arrived at the entrance did they part ways.

Clarissa boarded the bus heading to her mother’s house.

The next day, Connie returned home early after having completed her share of her work.

Since she was working as a salesgirl, she rarely stayed in the office. Thus, she didn’t need to check in

to the company every day.

Luke rarely returned to the house.

Luke and Emily were currently in a serious relationship. When Emily saw that Luke had acquired a four

bedroom house, she felt relieved. Ever since Joseph’s scandal was spread to the public, Emily’s heart

had gone to Luke.

However, Emily had gone back home because she wasn’t keen on living in the same house as Connie.

Luke, being her boyfriend, moved to her place as well.

Connie was elated to have such a spacious place all to herself. She looked up to Luke for being able to

afford such a luxurious house.

In Genovia, a house like this was worth at least 100k dollars.

Around four in the evening, the doorbell rang.

Upon receiving the door, Connie was met with a surprise.

That person was none other than Clarissa’s husband.

What a great day! He had come to her by himself!

Joseph thought Clarissa had rented the house for Luke, just so Luke wouldn’t try to chase Theresa out

of her own house. As for Damien, Joseph thought the former wasn’t involved in the purchase of this

house in any way.

Apparently, Joseph was still oblivious to the fact that Luke had switched sides to Damien.

“You are..?” Joseph asked.

“I’m Luke’s cousin, Connie Hale. Can I help you with anything?”

Connie was thinking about how she could deceive Joseph into going to New East right now. She

wanted everyone in the company to know about the identity of Clarissa’s husband.

“Oh, my name is Joseph Moore. I’m here to get my car keys from Luke. I need to meet some clients

tonight.” Joseph’s cars were all currently parked at Frank’s house. Ever since he got infamous thanks

to the scandal, he didn’t want to return there anymore.

Right now, the only car he could use was the one Luke had.

Being his driver, Luke always had the keys with him. However, he wasn’t home last night. This morning,

he returned home and left the keys here before going off in a hurry.

“Oh. Luke gave them to me this morning, but I think I might have left them at my company. Can you

come with me there?” Connie asked.

“Sure.” Joseph didn’t think much about it.

So, Connie hailed a taxi and went to New East Corporation with Joseph.

The moment they got off the taxi, Connie said, “Please wait here for a moment. Ili head upstairs to take
