Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 142

Chapter 142 Don’t Cause Trouble

On Sunday morning, Damien told Clarissa that he would be going out on a meeting with a client to

discuss the issues of a potential project.

“Okay.” This was the first time Damien told Clarissa his personal schedule.

Around noon, Mrs. Faber went out to buy some groceries. Madelynn dropped by the villa at that time.

Clarissa frowned slightly. Nonetheless, she kept her guard up.

“He’s gone to a meeting with his client. Something about a project,” Clarissa said to Madelynn, since

she knew the latter was here to look for Damien.

“Oh, is that so? I’ll call him later.”

“Didn’t you call him in advance?” Clarissa didn’t want to seem rude by kicking Madelynn out of the

mansion straight away, so she had no choice but to talk to Madelynn.

“What about Grandpa Lawrence? I’ll go say hi” Madelynn continued. “He only takes his daily nap after

lunch, after all.”

‘Why would Madelynn go to Grandpa’s room?’

Suspicious, Clarissa decided to go after Madelynn.

Madelynn happened to be clutching a customized Betaloc pill. The medicine contained within that

capsule was three times more potent than an ordinary Betaloc pill.

Meanwhile, Grandpa Lawrence was looking for a book at the bookshelf with his reading glasses on.

“Grandpa Lawrence,” Madelyn greeted. “Good morning!”

Grandpa Lawrence turned around and noticed Madelynn. “Ah, you’re here. Why don’t you go spend

time with Clarissa outside? Damien has gone out for the day.”

“Alright. I’m just here to say hi. I’ll be leaving now.”

“Okay. Hmm… I was looking for a book on international business laws, wasn’t I? Why can’t I find it?”

Grandpa Lawrence mumbled to himself as he continued searching for the missing book.

Madelynn quietly slipped the pill into Grandpa Lawrence’s pill bottle when he wasn’t paying her any

attention.novelbin

At that time, Clarissa entered the room. She admonished Madelynn, “Come out now. Don’t disturb

Grandpa any longer.”

Madelynn was furious. ‘How am I disturbing Grandpa Lawrence? I’m just entering his room!’

“I’ll be leaving now since Damien isn’t here. I’ll give him a call on the way back,” Madelynn announced

in a ‘this is my business with Damien, so you can f*ck off’ tone while she strode haughtily to the living

room.

About half an hour after Madelynn left, Clarissa could hear a scuffle from Grandpa Lawrence’s

room.

She ran into his room quickly and noticed him leaning against the bed while trying to get up. His

complexion was awfully pale, and he was clutching at his chest desperately.

“Grandpa, what happened? What’s wrong?”! Clarissa quickly helped the elderly man up before dialing

911.

For some reason, she was unable to reach the emergency hotline.

She tried using Grandpa Lawrence’s phone to dial the number, but she had no idea where it was.

Consumed by panic, Clarissa decided to call Damien instead, only to realize that his line was busy.

Just as Clarissa was starting to lose hope, she quickly thought of her brother Luke.

Since Luke had received a great deal of benefits from Damien, he would be grateful to Damien.

Moreover, he was a driver, so he should have a car ready anytime.

“Luke, Grandpa’s fallen ill! We need to get to the hospital right now. I can’t reach 911 for some reason,

and my husband isn’t here to help me out. I’ll go out and try to flag down a cab right now. If I’m able to

find one, I’ll take it. Hurry up and come here as soon as possible! Let’s keep in contact.”

“No problem.” To Luke, money was the best motivation.

The house that consisted of four bedrooms and two common spaces was more than enough to buy his

loyalty.

Joseph happened to be in Luke’s car at that moment.

“What is it?”

Luke told Joseph all about Grandpa Lawrence’s sudden illness.

“Let’s head over there now! Clarissa can’t handle everything on her own!” Joseph seemed more

worried.

Luke was a speedy driver. He swerved the car around at the next junction and headed toward

Damien’s mansion immediately.

“Hold on, I thought you hate Damien’s guts! Why are you being so cooperative this time?” Joseph

turned his head to ask Luke. “Do you have other intentions?”

Joseph was worried that Luke might take the opportunity to pair him and Clarissa again. It would

certainly cause the latter trouble.

Besides, Damien’s grandfather was already ill. Damien’s mood would definitely be in the pits. If Luke

were to stir up trouble at this time, Damien would definitely throw a huge fit.

Joseph had no idea that Luke had already sided with the enemy.

“C’mon, now. Am I that sort of person?” Luke asked.

“Don’t you dare do anything when that time comes. You hear me?” Joseph reminded him sternly.

On the other hand, Clarissa did her best to support Grandpa Lawrence as she tried to flag down a cab.

Surprisingly, there weren’t any cars on the road today.

Madelynn’s car was parked very far away at that time. She had placed the special pill on the very top.

As she had expected, Grandpa Lawrence consumed it, thinking it was an ordinary pill. Also, she had

connections at the telecommunications company who had disconnected Clarissa’s number from the

emergency hotline. At the same time, she kept calling Damien’s number so Clarissa could never reach

him through his phone. As for the cabs, she had hired many people in advance just to flag down all the

cabs they could see that were driving down this particular road.

Once Grandpa Lawrence passed away, it was high time for Damien and Clarissa to get a divorce.

Furthermore, since no one was at home with Old Mr. Lawrence other than Clarissa, there was a

chance that Clarissa would be framed as the culprit.

Right now, Clarissa felt very helpless. She had a feeling that even God decided to sit back, relax, and

enjoy the upcoming drama.

The thought of Grandpa Lawrence’s kindness toward her made her tear up. “Grandpa, you have to

hang on! Please, hang in there! We’ll be at the hospital soon enough!” Madelynn couldn’t help but smile

smugly from a safe distance.
