“Clary, did you get into a light with Damien last night?” Grandpa Lawrence asked Clarissa while she

was drinking the soup.

Clarissa nodded in reply.

“Good! It’s finally your turn to drive him out.” Grandpa Lawrence smiled at Clarissa. “He can’t bully you

all the time.”

“Grandpa…” Clarissa was embarrassed by Grandpa Lawrence’s teasing.

Clarissa didn’t go anywhere that day, and instead stayed at home to do some chores. She tidied the

clothes and washed the sheets. Suddenly, she realized that the house seemed very quiet without

Clarissa wanted to hear about Damien from the gossip, but for the first time, she couldn’t find out

anything. She wondered if Damien was at work today.

In the afternoon, she went to the fish and chips store outside and had lunch with Lily.

“Do you know if Damien came to work today?” Clarissa asked Lily.

Lily was puzzled by the question and asked Clarissa in reply, “Damien? You’re his wife. Don’t you know

if he’s working or not?”

Clarissa lost her appetite and couldn’t finish her fish and chips. Where on earth did Damien go?

Clarissa then told Lily everything that happened yesterday. Damien somehow knew that Joseph gave

her chocolates when she gave him the bag. When he got home, he tore Clarissa’s book. The two of

them ended up in a heated argument that got so bad, he left the house.

“They say a couple’s fight will end in bed. The two of you didn’t make up in bed?” Lily teased Clarissa.
