Meanwhile, at Jacob Real Estate, David Xuereb, Jacob’s assistant, said, “Mr. Lingard, Mr. Turner fromGerton Corporation called to tell us that our deal with them had been called off by their directors. Also,Mr. Little from Yewshire Corporation called regarding the land. They’ll take the form of an open tender,and they will not meet with anyone in private before the tender starts.”
“Hah!” Jacob curled his lips in a sneer. After so many years in the industry, everyone is still the same!They’re all only interested in money and power! The news about the cancelation of the wedding hadjust been released, and these people have already abandoned the Lingard family. I should’ve seen thiscoming.
Feeling exhausted, he rubbed his temple and noticed David had no intention of leaving. “Anything else?”
“Mr. Lingard, the office has already received countless phone calls from the reporters. They were allasking about the cancelation of the wedding between Ms. Michaela and Mr. Zack. Would you like thePublic Relations Department to come out with a statement?”
“Do as you see fit.”
“Understood.”
Seeing Jacob waving at him in dismissal, David left without saying anything further.
Just as the door was shut, Jacob stood up abruptly, and the fury in his eyes broke out instantly. Enraged,he raised his hand and swept all the items on the desk to the ground.
Still, he wasn’t done throwing his tantrum. He then tore off his tie in frustration and kicked the itemslaying on the ground.
Despite his best effort to conceal it, the dark eye circles and lethargy in his expression proved that evena good vent the night before couldn’t grant him a good night’s sleep.novelbin

Initially, he thought the wedding with the Xander family would be a perfect opportunity to achieve moresuccess. He didn’t expect that he would end up losing out instead.
Just then, someone suddenly opened the door to his office. Despite the messy scene, the incomerpretended like everything was fine. She smiled and asked, “You look terrible, Dad. Did you get a goodnight’s sleep?”
“Lucille!” Upon hearing the familiar voice, Jacob’s eyes turned cold, and he strode toward her whileraising his right palm. I sent people to look for her the whole night last night, and she was nowhere to befound! How dare she show up now? If it wasn’t for her, none of this would’ve happened!
At that moment, his gaze was cold and violent, as if he was about to tear Lucille apart. In fact, the aurahe was emitting felt rather terrifying and dangerous.
Despite the tense moment, Lucille remained unmoved and unperturbed. Instead of shying away, sheraised her head as if she was inviting him to slap her across her face. “Once you’ve slapped me, your
dream of having a relationship with the Xander family would be gone, Dad!”
“What the hell are you on about?” Jacob halted, and his expression softened. However, there was still ahint of reticent in his eyes.
He was staring at Lucille intently. If she fails to give me a satisfying answer now, I’ll tear her apart!
Everything was happening as Lucille had planned. She looked at him with a hint of amusement anduttered, “Dad, I know you want to marry your daughter into the Xander family, but why must it beMichaela?”
Jacob wasn’t particularly pleased with Lucille acting so mysteriously. As his patience was running thin, hequestioned coldly, “What are you talking about?”
“Well, I’ve actually been together with Zack for a while now. In fact, I might already have his baby in me.Since both our families have seen us together, the Xander family would have to be responsible for me inthe future. Besides, I want the same thing as you, Dad. If I can use Zack to establish a relationship withthe Xander family, your company will have a bright future. When that happens, it’ll be up to you whetheryou want to expand the company or even retire early, Dad. The most important thing is that I’m thedaughter who shares a blood relationship with the Lingard family! So I’m the only one who cares aboutthe Lingard family! Don’t you think I’m right, Dad?”
