Chapter 232

Chapter 232

Four staff members began installing the equipment.

A circular radar was installed on the roof and various machines were set up within the room.

“What are these things?” asked Wilbur.

Ryder replied, “A satellite signal receiver, the Skynet Integration System, and the Department ofParanormal Research and Defense’s specialized supercomputer.”

“Oh,” Wilbur replied as if he understood

The satellite signal receiver was used to connect satellite signals, which were much more stable thandedicated lines.

Wilbur was aware of Skynet. It was a national defense program that connected security camerasthroughout the nation. They could surveil any security footage within the nation at any time.

Although he was not sure about the specialized supercomputer, he knew it was an effectivesupercomputer.

The set of equipment was more powerful than the equipment used by the provincial departments. Italso demonstrated that the authority of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense was trulyformidable.

Their operations would be illegal without the approval of the highest authority as it was potentiallyinfringing the privacy of the public. It was not a minor matter.

Ryder supervised the installation staff, and they worked until evening.

By then, Faye, Faron, and Elsa had arrived.

They rushed to visit Wilbur after they heard about the incident out of curiosity.

Ryder immediately walked out of the room because he noticed them. He told Faron and the others,“This is the operation area of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense, Unauthorizedentry is prohibited within a ten–meter radius.”

Faron and the others instantly stopped in their tracks and had dumbfounded looks on their faces.

Wilbur hurriedly explained, “That’s the son of Governor Campbell, Faron Campbell. That’s the vice–captain of the Criminal Investigation Department, Special Agent Elsa Janae, and that’s my girlfriend. They’re not outsiders.”

“Regardless, no one is allowed to approach this area without authorization from the Commander–in–Chief, except for you. and me,” said Ryder with a stern expression.

He was uncompromising, so Wilbur was left in an awkward situation. He did not know what to say.novelbin

Faron asked curiously, “What is the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense? Why have Inever heard of it?”

“It’s a special department that is very impressive,” remarked Elsa with a hint of jealousy.

Wilbur chuckled and said, “Alright, then. Let’s go to my room instead.”

They followed Wilbur into his room.

Wilbur snapped his fingers and took his work permit out from the demiplane. He waved it ostentatiouslybefore placing it on the table and said, “Clack it out.”

Faron quickly picked it up and opened it to read.

“The Department of Paranormal Research and Defense, Northwest Branch, Deacon Wilbur Penn.”

He flipped to the second page. “All national departments and individuals are obligated to cooperatewith this work permit was written on it.

Meanwhile, on the third page was ‘Authorized to carry various weapons and execute tasles acrossregions.‘

“F*ck me, this is so cool!” exclaimed Faron. Some of the listed rules were basically unrestricted andWilbur was allowed to do

whatever he pleased.

There were a few pages left, but Faron did not want to read it anymore. He did not have the authority todo so.

Faye was also shocked. She did not know when Wilbur had joined this department and gained thatmuch authority.

Wilbur grinned and asloed, “Not bad, right?”

“Show off,” mumbled Elsa quietly.

She was unsure what that department was in charge of, but she knew that powerful department existedin the nation. The staff were all remarkable individuals. Moreover, only the highest echelons of theprovince had the qualifications to contact them.

She had gone through rounds of applications to bring in Ryder before.

Compared to the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense, her position as a vice–captainseemed insignificant.

Faye frowned and said, “This job sounds dangerous.”

“It’s not that dangerous. I think I can handle it quite well with my capabilities Wilbur was not just tryingto comfort Faye. He was also confident in his abilities.

Suddenly, Ryder said at the door, “Ryder Litwing, reporting in for a mission request.”
