Chapter 558

Chapter 558 The Mysterious Jar

"Do you think I would believe you?"

"Believe it or not, it's up to you. If you don't believe me, you can investigate after we leave here. The

name of my first love, the one I mentioned who often went to the hotels, is Lance Campbell."

To make her story more convincing, Eudora genuinely revealed her ex-boyfriend's name to Colbert.

"Lance..."

Colbert murmured Lance's name, squinting his eyes, skeptical of Eudora's words.

Eudora randomly picked up a few books and couldn't help but mutter, "What are these? I've never

heard of them. They're probably ancient novels or scripts."

She looked at the book in her hand and opened a page, but Colbert said, "It's getting late before you

can start reading. Let's go."

"Okay."novelbin

Eudora put the novel back on the shelf, and the two of them walked toward the exit of the study.

Just as they had taken a few steps, Colbert abruptly stopped in his tracks. "Wait."

"What's wrong?"

When Eudora saw his sudden reaction and serious expression, her heart skipped a beat, and she

became nervous.

"Did you hear that? The sound of water."

Colbert let go of Eudora and turned around, scanning the spacious study. Finally, his gaze settled on a

black-sealed jar on a table against the wall.

He walked toward it, and Eudora followed, but for some reason, as they got closer, the sound of water

inside the jar grew louder.

It was the kind of sound produced when water in a jar was stirred by an external force, a distinct and

noticeable sound as if something was inside.

After all, Eudora was a girl, and she nervously tugged at Colbert's sleeve, whispering, "Could it be a

ghost? No one has been here for so long, and the jar is tightly sealed. Even if there is something, it

must be dead."

No matter how brave someone might be, fear was heightened in the face of the unknown.

"Stay back."

Colbert pushed Eudora a few steps back, then took out a dagger from his pocket, one he found in

another room. He prodded the mud, opening several layers of cloth, and at the bottom was a piece of

parchment wrapped in cowhide.

The sealing was complex and intricate, providing a high level of confidentiality.

But as the jar's opening was about to be uncovered, the sound of water from inside became even

louder.

As he was about to open the last layer of oiled paper, Colbert looked back at Eudora and said, "Stand

further away."

"Maybe we shouldn't open it after all. It's quite scary."
