Chapter 305

Chapter 305

Elena

“Miss Elena!”

Miss? Who were they calling miss?

The loud knocks on the door terrified me so much, I had nearly slipped myself in the bathroom. Iwrapped a towel around my body and ran to the door. Waking up in a new home was still a lot to getused to.

“Yes, yes I’m here!” I opened the door. The maid in front of me looked from the towel around my bodyto the wet floor. “Yes,” I cleared my throat.

“Y-yes.” The maid frowned. “We’re ready to serve you your breakfast. Where would you like to eat?”

Did they make me breakfast?

“Where would I like to eat?”

I noticed a slight hint of annoyance in the maid’s eyes, covered with a fake smile. “The dining room, theballroom, garden-”

“Oh, the backyard will do!” I nodded awkwardly. I was always the one taking care of my dad, but thistime someone was actually taking care of me.

“Get dressed…and you can come down whenever you’re ready.”

After the maid had left, I did as told and got dressed. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t hungry because Ialways was.

I made my way to the hallway, but before I could take another step-another maid was already in front ofme.

“Please follow me, miss.”

Without saying another word, I followed the woman through the mansion to the backyard and stared inawe. Marvin hadn’t shown me this spot before. My eyes automatically moved to the large pool, as I hadalready made plans to make good use out of it.

“Any allergies we should know about?” The maid led me to a set table near the pool. I ran to the tableand looked at the several dishes. “No.” I smiled, pulling out a chair. “And it’s a bit too late for that-don’tyou think?”

A scoff escaped from the maid’s lips. Yup, they did not like me at all. “Please, enjoy.”

“I will, thank you,” I spoke, unbothered. “And I don’t want to be annoying-but do you know where I canfind Marvin?”

“I’ll tell him you’ve been looking for him.”

“Thank you.”

The maid turned away, giving me enough time to admire the food from up close. The table was filledwith pancakes, bacon and eggs, and so much more. I grabbed myself a plate, filled it with whatever Icould, and began eating.

“Taste good, doesn’t it?” A shadow blocked the sun from my face. The feeling of a sudden hand on myshoulder made me flinch, but before I could react-Victor had revealed himself.

“Hi.” I greeted him, dropping my fork. Victor pulled out a chair and sat down. “Good morning.” Hegreeted. “Mind if I join you?”

What was the point of asking if he had already made himself comfortable?

“No, please.” I smiled. “It’s not my house.”

“It isn’t.” Victor laughed. “Don’t let me distract you from destroying that plate-please continue.” Hespoke. I ignored his presence and continued eating my food.

“I’m sorry

about your dad.” Victor spoke after a few seconds of silence. It was good to know Marvin told the entirehousehold that my dad had kicked me out.Note the sarcasm.

“It’s okay.”

Victor hummed. “Yes–you and Marvin both

What was that supposed to mean?

“What we wanted?”

got what you wanted.”

Victor nodded. “Yes, I supposed he finally opened up to you about his feelings.”

“His feelings?”

A deep sigh escaped from Victor’s lips as he brushed his hand through his hair. “Wait, he hasn’t toldyou that’s he’s into you?”

“Into me?” I asked, confused. Was he really talking about Marvin?

“Because if he hasn’t, we should just forget we ever had this conversation.” Victor got up from

his chair. He stole a strawberry from my plate and ruffled his hand through my hair as I was still tryingto process his words.

Marvin was into me?

“It’s good to have you here, Elena,” Victor spoke. I followed his gaze and looked at Marvin and Tiago, who made their way over from a distance. If there was one thing I had learned, it was that Marvin andVictor did not get along.

Seeing Tiago made me think of our previous conversation and the real reason why I had no issuestaying here.He had yet to give me a name.

Without giving it a second thought, I got up from my chair and waved at my target. “Tiago!” I held up myhand. Tiago stopped in his steps and had a tensed expression in his eyes as he stared at Victor.

“What are you doing here?” Marvin focused his attention on Victor. “Are you bothering her

“No, we were just talking-isn’t that right, Elena?” Victor nudged me. I smiled at Marvin and gave him anod. “Yes, don’t worry.”

I moved my eyes back to Tiago. “Do you-”

“Tiago and I should go!” Victor interrupted me. He slammed his arm around Tiago’s shoulder, who hadan uncomfortable look in his eyes, and pulled him away.

How the hell would I get a name if these people weren’t going to let me speak to him?

“Do you mind if I join you?” Marvin sat down, following the same routine as Victor-but this time, I didn’tmind.

“No, please.” I smiled.

It almost seemed as if I was reading from a script.Marvin pointed his finger at my plate and threw hishead back with laughter. “It looks like someone woke up hungry.”

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a plate for Marvin. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, andyou shouldn’t skip it,” I spoke with a slight blush on my cheeks, remembering Victor’s words. If Marvinwas indeed into me, why would he not tell me?novelbin

“Thank you,” Marvin accepted the plate. “And I’m sorry Tiago had to leave so quickly-but he’s visitingAnya for the first time-”

“So he is not in a good mood.” I finished Marvin’s sentence. It was understandable, and the last thing Iwanted was to bother Tiago with difficult questions. “I’m glad to see he isn’t locking himself upanymore.”

“You’re right. This is a big step.” Marvin agreed. “Enough about Tiago. How did you sleep?”

I used my hands to express my happiness. “Good, I can’t even explain!” I gushed, thinking about theenormous amount of space on the bed. Marvin chuckled. “And how do you like your food?”

“It’s so good. I don’t have any words!”

Marvin scooted closer and moved his finger to the corner of my lips. “Yes, I can tell.” He brushed awaysome crumbs.

I held in my breath as I looked into his eyes. The most challenging thing about Marvin was that Icouldn’t read him.

Was he being nice because he was a good person, or was he flirting with me? What if Victor was lying? Why would Marvin even discuss something like that with Victor?

“You’re staring.” Marvin chuckled. “I am,” I spoke, hypnotized. “I’m trying to figure you out?”

“And how is that going?” Marvin pulled away with a smirk on his lips. Well, it clearly wasn’t goinganywhere.

“So, no work today?” Marvin leaned back in his chair. “Not today,” I shook my head. I hadn’t even toldRona about anything.

“I was thinking. We should get out of here.” Marvin suggested out of nowhere. Getting out of the housewouldn’t be too bad. I needed some air, and some new clothes-so perhaps he could take me shopping.“We should get out of here.” I agreed.

“Yes, I’m in desperate need of a vacation-and so are you.”

Vacation?

By the looks of it, Marvin and I had a completely different idea of getting the hell out of here. Was hetrying to get rid of me because he didn’t want me here after all?

“I would like to go on a vacation, but I have work and-”

“Call Rona, and ask her for a break.”

“Some people work for their money, Marvin,” I told him. “I mean, no offense, of course.”

Marvin shot me an impressed look. “None taken. I actually agree with you. The Castillo’s are lazy,” Helaughed. “Don’t worry. My money is your money.”

My money is your money? That didn’t sound bad at all, but we barely knew each other.

“Come on, call your friend.” Marvin pushed me. “Trust me. It’ll be nice to get out of the country.Sometimes you just have to get away from everything.”

He had a point. It would be nice to escape reality for a while. It would be nice to clear my head, andafter all I had been through-I definitely deserved it.Why would I say no to a free

vacation?

“Then I guess I’ll call Rona.” I laughed, confused. Doing something like this was entirely out ofcharacter for me, but I guess people changed. I dialed Rona’s number and put her on speaker.

“Lena!”Rona picked up her phone.

“Rona! “I began. “You’re never going to believe what happened yesterday, but long story short-my dadkicked me out, and now I’m living with Marvin!”

“You’re living with your crush-

“You’re on speaker!”I shouted over Rona and looked at Marvin, who had not missed a single word. Helooked at me with a confident smirk on his lips.

“Oh, M-Marvin?” Rona muttered. “Yes.” I frowned. Rona had just confirmed my feelings for Marvin, andhe did not seem surprised in the slightest. Whether he wanted to do something with it or not wasentirely up to him.

“Rona, I have a question for you.” Marvin took over the conversation. “I was wondering if Elena couldtake a few days off from work, so I can take her on vacation-

“Yes, absolutely.” Rona cut him off, not giving him the chance to finish his sentence. Well, that

was easy.

“So, where are we going?”

“We? “I spoke, startled. There was a big misunderstanding. I made eye contact with Marvin, whoshrugged his shoulders. “Did she just invite herself?” Marvin whispered, just as confused.

“Tell her she can’t go!” I whispered back. Marvin shook his head. “It’s your friend, not mine.”

“Uh guys, so where are we going? “Rona asked once again. Marvin took a deep breath. “I thought weshould go somewhere as far away as possible—”

“Like Amsterdam!” Rona suggested. “I’ve always wanted to go there!”

“Amsterdam? “Marvin looked at me for confirmation.

“Okay, Amsterdam, it is!”
