Chapter 465 The Explosive Atmosphere

“Sort of

Josiah was struggling to keep his temper in check. “Has the payment for the house been made?”

Seeing that he was unwilling to believe it, Lysander nodded and said, “Yes, I completed all theprocedures. this morning.”

Josiah laughed. “How much money did he lend you?”

“Two million.””

“Two million…” Josiah licked his teeth, leisurely observing her. “Two million is enough for you to cookfor him.”

Lysander didn’t feel the need to be ashamed. She looked at Josiah with a calm demeanor andcountered, “Am I not allowed to?”

“Of course you are.” Josiah managed to squeeze out the next few words through gritted teeth. “But Dr.Thorne, you shouldn’t play favorites. Don’t forget there’s someone else who needs your ‘personal‘gratitude as well…”

Lysander furrowed her brows. “Who?”

“Before, I was repeatedly coerced by Zachary for your sake. I even handed over the most profitableproject of the company to him. Shouldn’t you show some sort of gratitude?”

“Since I’ve prepared a whole table of dishes. Dr. Sutton and I can’t finish it all. How about I pack somefor you?” The look in Lysander’s eyes was hostile, evidence that she was upset. She cautioned,

“However, I must remind you as a medical professional that you’re still sick. With your stomachcondition, you should avoid getting upset. It would be bad if your condition worsens.”

With a sarcastic laugh, Josiah replied, “Thanks for the concern, but my lungs hurt more than mystomach now. I insist on calling on that debt.”

Lysander thought about the lemon butter fish on the table that was getting cold and impatiently asked,“So, what do you want me to cook for you?”

“Seafood.”

Adrian mentioned. “Perhaps seafood isn’t the best choice right now. It’s generally better to avoid itwhen your stomach isn’t feeling well.”

Josiah glanced at Adrian and asked, “Do you have an objection, Dr. Sutton?”

“No, Mr. Guerra. Go ahead.”

Lysander said, “Seafood is fine. Once your stomach condition has improved, I’ll find an opportunity tocook it for you.”

“I want it today. I want it now.”

“Josiah, why are you acting like an unreasonable child right now?”

“So, when he wants gratitude, it’s perfectly justified, but when I do, it’s considered unreasonable? Dr.Thome, are you being biased here?”

Lysander was also getting frustrated. “I didn’t prepare any seafood today. There’s only one fish in thefridge.”

“What kind of fish?”

“Carp.”

“Is carp considered seafood?” Josiah deliberately emphasized the word “sea.”

This man is simply outrageous!

Lysander took a deep breath, attempting to suppress her anger but failing. She ended up laughing outof sheer frustration. “Josiah, since I’ve agreed, I won’t back out. Aren’t you afraid that eating seafoodnow will worsen your condition, or maybe even cause a stomach ulcer on the spot?”

Josiah slightly narrowed his eyes, his aura radiating danger as he said, “Are you cursing me?”

Lysander responded to him. “I’m just speaking from a medical perspective.”

The tension in the atmosphere quickly returned. One could even see sparks flying between the arguingpair.

Josiah was stubborn as a mule. Once he made up his mind, no one could ever change it. He declaredon the spot, “Lysander, even if it means getting a stomach ulcer, I must have the seafood meal today.”

Adrian watched them for a moment, his face stern as he finally offered a piece of advice, “Mr. Guerra,it’s clear that you simply don’t want me to have a candlelit dinner with Lysander with all this talk ofgastritis and wanting seafood… Why go to such lengths? You’ll just end up harming yourself.”

Josiah said rather bluntly, “This is between Lysander and me. You should mind your own business.”

The three of them were all fully grown adults, yet they were still making a fuss over a seafood meal.

Lysander sighed helplessly.

“Alright, Mr. Guerra, since you’re so eager for seafood, let’s have it. What would you like? Fish, shrimp,or crab? I’ll downstairs and buy it right now so that you’ll be satisfied. However, you’ll have to bear theconsequences after eating. Ms. Lanister, you should call an ambulance later and have them waitdownstairs on standby. If anything happens to Mr. Guerra, they can come up immediately and take himaway

In response, Josiah didn’t react with anger as one might expect. Instead, he seemed surprisingly calm.He pulled out his phone, speaking as if he was afraid she might change her mind. “No need to troubleyourself. I can order what I want myself. It should be here soon. Dr. Sutton, what would you like? This

meal’s on me.”

He cast a provocative glance at Adrian; his behavior was nothing short of childish. Upon hearing this,Adrian didn’t even care to smile back, he simply reiterated. “I don’t fancy seafood. A home–cookedmeal by Lysander is more than enough for me.”

It was clear the meal was undoubtedly going to be an eventful one.

Josiah was behaving like a ticking time bomb.

As long as Adrian was there, he would continue making up fuss.

The mere thought of the scene gave Lysander a headache. After a moment of contemplation, shemade up her mind. Full of regret, she said to Adrian, “I’m sorry. I’m afraid I won’t be able to have dinnertonight. You should have it at home. I’ll take care of things here.”

Adrian was understanding.

He said, “Don’t worry. Since you’ve worked hard on it, I should eat it to not let your efforts go in vain.Your should focus on cooking for Mr. Guerra, as anything between us can be easily resolved. The‘patient‘ takes priority.”

Lysander genuinely felt apologetic toward him and softly said, “I’m really sorry.”

“I’m not particularly occupied at the moment. I’ll leave after I help you clean up the dishes. You’ve had along day, so it would be harsh for you to come home and still have to do housework. Don’t worry. Onceyou’ve finished up here, you’ll return to a clean and cozy home.”

The words caused Josiah to furrow his brows.

The way Adrian spoke about him, made him sound like a troublesome villain, deliberately making lifedifficult for the hardworking “couple.”

“Dr. Sutton, you sure have a way with words,” Josiah remarked coldly. “Do you conduct classes onbeing a master of pretense?”

“You sure have a sense of humor, Mr. Guerra. You know, you should get some therapy. That way, youwon’t always get upset easily and cause trouble for those around you.”

Adrian didn’t take the bait. Instead, he stood up and left.

It wasn’t until he was standing in the hallway that he suddenly remembered something. He turned backaround, bypassed Josiah to enter the living room, and addressed Tiffany who was still standing in heroriginal spot. “Ms. Lanister, have you had dinner yet?”

Tiffany had been standing helplessly by the couch for a while, not knowing what to do. When she heardsomeone talking to her suddenly, she was taken aback. She turned around, asking hesitantly, “Dr.Sutton, are you… speaking to me?”

The two of them were not familiar with each other at all.

Adrian gave a warm smile, reassuring her, “Lysander has cooked quite a lot, and I won’t be able tofinish it all by myself. If you don’t mind, why don’t you join me and give it a taste?”

“I–Tiffany glanced hesitantly at Josiah, replying with concern, “I need to stay and take care of Josiah.”

The timid demeanor of the young lady would stir sympathy in anyone who saw her.

Josiah said, “Go ahead. With Dr. Thorne here, I’ll be fine.”

Tiffany trusted Lysander, yet she instinctively glanced toward Josiah. Since she was still worried, shesuggested, “Why don’t we go together?”

In Tiffany’s presence, there was too much to explain.
